Which one is harder, Far Cry or Far Cry 2?
I'm playing Far Cry at the moment, and I'm intending to play the sequel next. In your opinion, is Far Cry 2 as hard as Far Cry? I'm having the feeling that it's going to be somehow easier, but would like to know your opinion, so I can choose the right difficulty level from the start.

By the way, in case you're wondering, I'm playing the first one in "normal", and having a hard time at some points. I don't consider myself very good at it.

I've just finished Far Cry and I tell you that is a very difficult game. I played it on the 3rd level (challenging) of 5, and a few shots instantly kill you even with full armor. The trigens of monkeys are the worst enemy, they kill you just with one hit, two if you have full armor...they are a nightmare. Is very frustating sometimes...but you will realise that is a very tactical game. I'm starting FC2 and i think is waaaaay more easy than FC1...until now...

Thanks for your opinion, I've been playing a lot more of Far Cry 1 and yes, you have to think a lot how to face each situation, but I'm having a great time. I'm sure I'll like the second one a lot too.

Far Cry 2 is hard in a diferent way than Far Cry (PC)

One example is that Far Cry (PC) is First Blood: Rambo and Far Cry 2 is Rambo: First Blood Part 2.

Far Cry is hard, but fun and managable once you figure out the "sweet spot" in each situation. Oh, and it comes with CRYENGINE EDITOR. So... Yeah. You can mod missions, if you want to. Put in people who will be your allies, maybe.

Far Cry 2 is hard in a different way; very tedious and boring. Doing the same thing over and over again, expecting ♥♥♥♥ to change.

Far Cry 3 is fun, because Vaas, and because you can fast-travel more, don't have annoying "checkpoints," and can actually enjoy yourself.

Far Cry Blood Dragon, by the way; buy it.

Far Cry 1 was too difficult on the higher difficulty settings, in the end I had to play it on normal difficulty just to finish the game (and that was a struggle), the higher difficulty levels were impossible for me. Far Cry 2 was much better.

FC3 was fun, until you realize just how freakin easy the game is. You can only enjoy yourself so much when there is nothing to shoot at.....that's why i love the checkpoints in FC2. Always gives me something to shoot at, cause, ya know, thats the point of a shooter.

Far Cry 1 was difficult yes...i only got to Swamp (level 17) on Realistic skill level and couldnt get past the part with Val in the jeep. far Cry 2 on Infamous is a blast, and if you ask me is the only way to play the game. Requires strategy changes on the fly. FC3 i think i could beat with my eyes closed because of all the button mashing scenes, and just walking around stabbing people because of the rediculously easy stealth system.

Makes you wonder, will Far Cry 4 be even easier??

First of all I hope the story is better than FC3, I hated those kids, all of them.

Secondly, riding on elephants? How slow and uninteresting will that be? Unless you're hanging on their little tail and get dragged through the Himalayas shooting planes and 4WDs with a rocket launcher.

From what i saw from E3 it looks about the same as FC3....IOW I'm not impressed.....except for wingsuit diving through the mountains.

I played Far Cry 1 at the hardest difficulty. By the last quarter of the game, it was getting impossible to reach the next checkpoint, and then I discovered that you can actually quicksave via the console (I don't consider it cheating as quicksave is a pretty standard feature of most shooters anyway, and it's seperated from other console cheats by the fact that you don't need devmode to use it). Even then, a few sections took quite a while to get through.

The real issue with playing on the highest difficulty, other than excruciatingly long distances between some checkpoints, is how "perfect" the enemy ai is. They can see through foliage and many objects, and if they're aware of you they will fire right at you the nanosecond you come into view.
