The second problem is the stealth system need be learned and it requires some time of experimentation and practice. Until you have naturally learned it better then the game is quite harder. But once you get it, it is less hard, at Normal difficulty.
The last point is we are used to too much hand guiding and when there's less, it can lost some players, at least during some time. And when it happens it makes them look the game much harder than it is really.
At normal difficulty it's a fair difficulty level, no way it's a very difficult game as can be fps like Serious Sam or even Painkiller at Normal difficulty. But there's a learning curve. And I think higher difficulty levels can be quite extreme.
I like a challenge but when the challenge is frustrating and not enjoyable then its time to drop the difficulty level. It really does make you want to punch a hole in the wall! I can't remember exactly where I got upto, i think it was the swamp level but it was near impossible to do and had to restart the whole game just to finish it. I even struggled on the last level on normal difficulty.
Far Cry is without a doubt the hardest fps i have ever played.
good, because if right now at 'challenging' difficulty im having rather an easy time, farcary 3 is going to be a cakewalk of bordom.
as for farcry1, it's hard compared to common, and i love it. the need to improvize, be stealthy, make sure to use the right weapon at the right time easily makes this one of my favorite FPS
For me, I increased the difficulty level as the game progress, and for now it's fine for me, but I agree there's something not well tuned in Far Cry 3.
I have Ziggy's....the only thing it made more complicated was crafting....which became an annoyance because you needed so much more to craft, well, anything.
