I didn't enjoyed Crysis BUT I bet it's a lot a problem of controls. Far Cry is very unique, no way Crysis is in the same genre of game, Crysis, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 are in a roughly similar league in term of game genre, Far Cry as far I know is unique.

The reason will probably make flee a lot of players, it's not really the difficulty, crank up the difficulty setting, use mods, play nude with no weapons, there's many way to make a play more difficult.

The real difference is Far Cry is (big) levels based. All other had to face the problems of open world. I haven't played Far Cray 3 yet so I'll consider only Crysis and Far Cry 2, their Open World approach lead the to same problems than for example Skyrim, repeatitive gameplay, repeatitive combats, a lot of player hand guiding to guide the player through the "open".

At opposite Far Cry uses a less ambitious way but succeed much better. Diversifed levels, lovels very open with much more diversity than open world badly filled. Eventually Far Cry 3 succeed I don't know but clearly not Crysis, Far Cry 2 or Skyrim.

But yeah many players like repetitive gameplay that's in my opinion why open world is so popular, the idea is great, in practice the execution is medium and it's no suprise it's a big challenge. And for the emergent gameplay of those games, it's a joke, it's just repetitive gameplay, hope that hazard can replace design, a good joke.

Far Cry was the trailblazer. It's raw and unforgiving. A true challenge on the more difficult settings. And its graphics set the new standard for an FPS game at the time.

Crysis, OTOH, has the advantage of better graphics, but the Nanosuit gives you an overwhelming advantage, even when playing on Delta. So, not as raw and realistic as Far Cry.

Still, I would rather not make any hard and fast judgements on either. Both are a 'must-play' if you're a true FPS fan...

Elder Scrolls 5 doesn't hav repetetive gameplay.Maybe that is just your opinion or point of view, but it isn't repetetive. It is a open-world game with lots of stuff to do which isn't boring and many NPC's to interact with.Don't say that games with a open-world are repetetive, because they aren't.Your point of view isn't everyone's point of view.
