AMD64 Patches for FC here
OK This one is for the AMD 64 upgrade and Extra Content patches only. Listed for XP but don't worry, works on all Win OS's.
The AMD64 patches convert the game to version 1.32 so the AI seeing through solid objects is fixed. 1.32 is the best SP FarCry version.
You can add as a non STEAM game OR rename Bin64 to Bin32, OR you can have both versions by running the 64 bit FC from a DT shortcut without STEAM and run the 32 bit version from Steam, two games for the price of one!

I was looking for these patches, but there are alot of outdated links. Luckily, PCGamingWiki has the files we need:
Far Cry AMD64 (64-bit) Upgrade Patch 1.32[community.pcgamingwiki.com]
Far Cry AMD64 (64-bit) Enhanced Content patch[community.pcgamingwiki.com]

That upgrade patch didn't work well. I recommend the exe without the "fp" in the name. The file name should be "farcry_amd64upgrade_us_uk.exe". The file size should be 497,323KB.

Have to admit that I still ended up with the "replace me" red textures on the cliff sides once I got to the region known as "The Pier", the region where you find the first hang glider. It's definitely either a missing or misplaced texture.

Not sure if this is a problem with the AMD patches or even with the 1.40 patch that is standard on the Steam version.

-- Tried the AMD version, had it.

-- Tried verify cache after removing the bin64 folder and had the same issue anyway.

Also, on Easy difficulty, which is what I decided to try, I found that neither versions saw through tents. Whereas on Normal difficulty, they were very observant of even you leaning around a corner if you were in their front view of arc or anyone's front view of arc. This sort of fits with my old memory of any of the 1.3 and later versions, but that was a decade or so ago, I suppose.

If anybody knows how to fix the texture for the white cliffsides from being the red replace me texture, I'd be much obliged to know it.

For now, I don't feel like doing a full uninstall/reinstall, in part because I'm pretty sure it isn't going to fix it, but also because I'm near my download limit for this month. I may try it next month.

Some of these texture problems are dependant on machine specs and/or vidcard drivers. Try higher or lower gfx settings, I offer no gaurantee of a fix of course. I have some mods (Pandemie, The Delta Sector) where these problems have never been fixed.
Some people rename bin64 to bin32 to run the AMD patches through STEAM but I use bin64 for non STEAM so I have that extra choice.

You gotta be kidding! Which OS is not an issue, works on all of them. However if you have Win10 of course you need "permissions" and must start STEAM "Run As Administerator".
It's a Far Cry patch. You install the patch to Far Cry wherever it is, duh.

Not anymore! Creators update for Win 10 broke the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game. Re-installing doesn't help.

EDIT:
The update in my case messed up some previously installed vc++ redistributables. Removed every one and re-installed the latest available one. Restarted after that and it worked like a charm again.

I didn't have a problem after the update thank goodness!
On the Replace Me textures this could be related to shaders not working properly. If the terrain is not connected to the proper shader file it won't render.
I have this problem and I've messed around with replacing the shaders folder and it will fix one thing but cause another problem.

How about patch 1.4?
skidmark May 4, 2017 @ 7:23pm
Well, 1.4 is what you get with this STEAM version, it ruined SP. There's lots of patches for this game. There's 1.41, 1.42, 1.43, 1.50, 1.51... I don;t know how many more but I'm not trying them all.

Yes! UbiSoft should really fix the Steam version of this still great game.
Now they're selling a broken Far Cry experience. Very sad for newcomers.

Talk about thread resurrection. for no reason. .

They are not selling a broken experiance, you go on any game, you will find a thread where someone is having problems running a game. Simply due to the amount of hardware and software combinations out there, someone will have an issue somewhere with something.

Its not just this game, its all pc games its been like this since the start of pc gaming. Sorry you are having issues, many, many people do not. and yes some people do have issues, which is why there are threads with fixes and people suggesting ways to get the game working, as the game should work.

If it point blank did not run on a later os at all, then fair enough, they should not sell it, but it does, it is simply a case of, if you are having issues, find the fix for it.

It does not mean they should not sell it.

I'm sorry, but I disagree. There are simply 2 showstopping bugs that were introduced in patches, that have nothing to do with hardware or OS, and should just be fixed in the Steam version. And the community has even done it for them, so they only have to incorporate those fixes in a (final?) patch.

On a constructive note, here's my post on how to play FC in 64 bit mode with longer viewing distances and work around the bugs:

Now I can go though all it again for the umpteenth time ! :-P
