Can't finish Swamp level - Valerie/forklift bug

So I'm playing on a Windows Vista Business, 4.00 GB of RAM, 32-bit...good enough for an old game like this I thought. When I get to the end of the Swamp level, where you find the nuke on a forklift, I understand from watching videos she's supposed to get on the forklift and drive towards the exit, and the level ends. When I play, she either immediately gets out as soon as she gets in or drives it a little bit but then just gets out and stands there, and I can't finish the level. Some online forums mentioned this bug but said if I reloaded from the last save point a couple times it would fix itself. I've done that 6 or 7 times, no change.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I could fix this bug? Thanks in advance.

Drive the forklift by yourself to the end, push Valerie towards the end.

I'm afraid I can't drive this particular forklift.

The bug is usually caused by remaining enemies in the area so she goes into fighting mode.

Interesting, perhaps if I retrace my steps I can find the guy I missed.

So I tried just pushing Valerie all the way to the gate and it worked. Then of course the nuke appears at the beginning of the next level like she was driving it all along. Hope this helps anyone with the same bug.

There can be quite a few spots where you have to push somebody around to get them to a trigger point.

I had a bug with the forklift after that when get in the elevator. When starting the elevator the foreklift didn't move with the elevator and dissapeared. In the next scene Valerie acted very glitchy and i had to restart from a previous savepoint.
