How the f*ck do I go past "Dam" level?!

Back when I was a kid I remember that I had to stay in the water in the first part of the level and everything was really easy, but today I got this issue when after jumping off the falls I go ahead like 20 meters and then the water is so low that I automatically stand up, keys are completely broken and the Crouch key won't work and I always got killed.
I don't know why but sometimes a bunch of enemy Trigen manage to find me or appears out of nowhere and kill me.

Any way on I could avoid this? I'm really close to throw my mouse on the wall with this bs.

This is rather a hard bit, why your having keyboard issues I cannot say, pretty sure I can crouch, but not in the water, i did have to hide a lot (also trigens die in the deep water), eventually finding a helicopter with a minigun on it.

No matter what I do, trigens keep going on the water, jump, and I will die. Also trying to be stealth is pretty much useless since enemies can see you even from 500 meters...

If you are being very unlucky and there are trigens waiting for you, it is still possible as they die in the water
