Game using crazy amounts of GPU power?
This is not a graphically intensive game, that is very obvious just from looking at it. So why does my GPU spike up to 90% usage (and the fans go up to max speed) when I talk to NPCs? Running an RTX 2080 Super, more than enough to handle the game, and the constant on-off of the fans is annoying af. I don't even have the graphics cranked, everything is on default or one higher. Anyone else experiencing this?

Just curious do you have Sampling Rate set to 2.00x? Because 2.00x is rendering the game at 4 times the native resolution, so if you are doing it at 1080p that would be 8K. I was running into this issue as well, so I turned sampling rate down to 1.50 which is 2.25x native resolution pixels, which is a little over 4K. (I'm running a 2070 Super Founders Edition)

It's the dynamic shadows they are ridiculous expensive in this engine for some reason especially at high shadow resolution and filtering levels.

The open prison city is tanking the performance

I got all my settings at high on a 2080TI with no trouble, but got a relatively small monitor (23-27inch).

You know, I also noticed that certain cutscenes when NPCs are talking and such will also radically boost performance demand. I still get totally fine framerate but something is making it work a lot harder...

No, I have sampling set to 1.0. I found that enabling AA achieved basically the same result for much less performance cost.

To everyone else, I want to clarify that my framerate is not suffering. The game runs at 120FPS rock solid. The problem is that the GPU usage is ridiculously higher than it should be, which causes my fans to go berserk every 3 seconds.

Set a good fancurve...

I have the exact same issue, my GPU is a 3060 Ti
