New Ys Game Coming out in 2023
https://www.gematsu.com/2022/11/next-ys-game-to-launch-for-ps5-ps4-and-switch-by-september-30-2023-in-japan

No surprise since Falcom released three Trails games in a row and displayed the art for Ys X few months ago. I wonder how well it would run on Switch since Ys IX's performance on it was less than stellar.

Well, it was NISA who ported VIII and IX to the Switch right?

Either another dev or the new engine would be more versatile and optimized hopefully.

Can't wait, but I'd love if I could play it at Switch instead of wait for the PC port.

Honestly I'd prefer if we'd get a proper physical port of Oath in Felghana, Ark of Napishtim, Chronicles+, Seven and Celceta on it before trying to put a more demanding game.

Console release in physical is always welcomed.

We will likely get the Chinese/KR PC version in 2024 and the English PC version in 2025.

I'd argue that art style/aesthetic >>>> graphical fidelity.

Why PS1 games can look prettier than some modern game even to this day?

PS1 is a bit too low resolution, particularly when 3D is involved, but I agree in spirit. All FF9 needs to be one of the prettiest game today is some (good) AI upscaling. 2D games you can go back to the SNES/Megadrive to find ones that are still good on the eyes, such as Zelda III.

AI upscale can be janky at times but what I mean is that why games in the Napishtim engine trilogy are still looking fine (not great of course but still good) even today? Especially Oath in Felghana.

All Zelda, Ys and FF series are still looking good. even outside the remasters.

I supose that at that time the people had more time and carefullness to overcome the hardware limitations.

Hopefully it's not going to be as dialogue heavy as X. Had to put the game because of it. :mhpatchie:

Well.... it was just announced for release in Japan all consoles but no pc yet.

https://www.gematsu.com/2022/12/ys-x-nordics-announced-for-ps5-ps4-and-switch

Its possible that nisa or the company will anounce pc later. Usually these games come out in Japan 1st then 3 to 6 months later west on pc and such.

This article doesn't mention the Nintendo switch is also getting a Remaster of an older title

Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana

This will get a switch Remaster.

Might as well wait 3 or 4 years for a PC port by Durante, knowing how NISA takes forever to release every Trails game outside of Japan, and we're still not getting Kuro 1 and 2 until they're done with Reverie, Nayuta and Azure.

Next year 2023 we will have Hajimeri, thus 2024 should be fine enough for Kuro 1 & Kuro 2.
If not possible to fit those 2 within the year, there is a possibility that NISA jump X ahead of Kuro 2 --> I predict should be end 2024 to see its first global trailer, and first half 2025 for PC Steam.

This scenario is actually likely since it would have been 4 years since IX on Steam, and having Ys X will attract more sales from those would have had Trails fatigue by then.

Very ugly graphics, looks basically the same as VIII and that was a Vita game. Hard pass.
