How is it fantastic? You just spam AoE's and the enemies don't even fight back. For an action game, this is terrible.
As for the gameplay, we don't have enough info to judge yet since they haven't really shown just how much the combat has changed from flash guard/flash dodge spam formula. And for that, we would need an actual boss fight with the boss's performing multiple attacks since the field combat tends to get resolved easily with skill spams unless you are severely underleveled. There was one boss fight video but the boss barely did anything since it was mainly to showcase how Adol and Karja can perform a combination attack.
Falcom gives some footage of how an actual boss fight will go near the end. While it is still not much, it does look like the combat has taken a step forward from "proc flash guard/move and spam skills". The boss only gets staggered temporarily with a very specific counter and wastes no time in continuing attacks otherwise. And it looks like you can only deal good damage to the boss's armor while you are in combi mode and fill your revenge meter. Finally something that makes me look forward to the game for real.
The recent entries have been getting so braindead that IX's "normal" mode would be called "very easy" in an actual character action game. And I'm assuming the trend is only going to continue, as Kondo believes their core fans are anime/ranobe fans who value the "story" above all else and the gameplay should be as hassle free as possible. And no sh*t, judging by the gameplay footage, X basically plays itself.
In most of the videos it looks like AI is disabled and I don't know why you are complaining about normal mode when there have been 3-4 difficulties above that.
VIII and IX aren't perfect but they have my favourite combat in any action game. They play more like a rhythm game than anything and I'm here for it.
And how are 8 and 9 (or even 10) like rhythm games in any shape or form? There are no repercussions to literally just spamming guard. And then you counterattack with a filled up revenge gauge. Woah, so deep, such hardcore gaming.
Play some Sekiro if you want an actual parry game with a rhythm. You whiff a few parries and get your face smashed in.
So you are saying whiffing 1-2 hits, then spam an Ult, then swapping char then whiffing 1-2 hits, then an Ult. then swap char, repeat from Genshin is a hardcore experience? Okay.
And if you have to switch character just so you can even cast more skills and create a decent combo, my dude, that's called not having a character depth.
Ys X will release in Japan on Sep 28 2023.
Yet we are still trailing behind with Kuro 1 & Kuro 2 before Ys X.
NISA at best can go 2 Falcom games / per year.
So let's say 2024 - mid 2025 is what they can do for Kuro 1 & Kuro 2, thus the least you can have is end 2025 - 2026 for Ys X global release, but probably Japanese only port will go out first by end 2025, just like Kuro no Kiseki.
Well it depends on NISA choose to go with Ys X or Kuro no Kiseki 2 after Kuro no Kiseki in 2024, maybe they could do the opposite, so we could expect Ys X on Steam (not global though) around mid-end 2024.
TL;DR, two possible outcomes:
1 / End 2025 (JP only release first) - 2026 for Ys X global release.
2/ Mid 2024 (JP only release first)) - End 2025 for Ys X global release (if NISA prioritize it over Kuro 2).
Another possibility is that CLE version (for KR/CHN players) could go much sooner around 2024
*looks up*
...It has that FREAKING Nordic/Scandinavian/Viking aesthethic that i'm tired to see in games, and... SHIP COMBAT? UGHHH
Seriously, Nordic aesthethic is BORING, overused.
Where is Ys V remake. Come on, Xandria, arabic aesthethic!
We need more arabic aesthethics!
I find this comment funny because of those two themes the Arabic theme is the one that's actually overdone. Especially in JRPGs were there's almost always that middle eastern desert part of the game that has architecture and weapons based on that region.
Ah yes thank you for your unnecessary input, I believe you can always find Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077 on sales all year round here on Steam, or trying the latest Fate/Samurai Remnant or upcoming Persona instead. Thus feel free to exit and don't bother coming back, unless you are that generous to carry a big bag of cash to donate to devs, maybe by then you will have your "graphics".
