For the rare items, you should prioritize on what you need the most that you can afford (weapon + upgrades, SP cost & STR or damage increase accessories, decent armors with DEF + Crit, anything related to HP is useless) until you get to free roam outside the City to farm money bit easier. The rest is collected later when you have Sacremental that increases Gold + Drops and better open field farm (be sure to complete all sidequests => always check the map for green ! sign, discover 100% map, get all blue petals, get all locations)
Per chapter you can have max Nox of 999 and can't go any higher, except last chapter where you can freely claim them anytime. If you go full save up mode, then go max 999 everytime but gonna be tedious mind you!, else 300-500 per chap should be enough (note that this does not count the amount of Nox you spent for opening map).
Also you better find Morbihan in chapter 4 instantly, use Doll's ability near the market next to river as he can allow you to buy mats.
Also don't go for Raids to earn Nox, just pick an area that can spawn many orbs, much faster (like the main square, the very first area of city that your Dandelion bar resides). To farm faster, go full upgrade weapon +2 so that you can almost 1-2 hit every mob in that chapter.
I believe he is going to encounter lack of mats to upgrade the weapons and Relic often from mid game onward, hence the necessary Noxes trade.
After all, the early monsters are a lot easier to kill and farm Noxes, and later they got stronger so you might not want to hang around for long unless you got +2 weapons everytime.
All in all, you will need to have a great amount of Nox shards (between 3000-5000 in the end) to be able to cover whatever you need, especially in doing achievements like crafting all 6 ultimate weapons, 1 million gold, a lv 99 char, max Relic enhancement or just your personal completetionist like getting all accessories, max upgrade for all weapons and armors.
I think one of the most fun things to do is not to try to decide everything perfectly at once, but to try to find your own efficiency first.
If you try to do everything right the first time, you may find it hard.
I've been playing "very inefficiently" for some time now.
Since the series has a long release span, I want to play as long as possible.
I'm on my sixth game since PS4, and I'm still not tired of it.
It's a special kind of love, but I think the game has the quality to withstand at least two or three rounds.
From the answers i've gotten i started farming for that extra 100 Nox per chapter just in case, though I think i've found my favorite Nox district already (Entertainment).
I think it more depends on where u are in the story and what you've unlocked. The first time I played was on hard so my experience was probably a bit different from urs. All I did was fight every encounter I ran into and reran everything a couple of times for fun and to get S ranks. I didn't really run into money problems and didn't pay attention to levels. The lantern runs were definitely the money makers in the shortest amount of time from what I remember.
The cheevo for a mil gold is very easy to cheese but late game money became pretty easy to earn and XP was fairly easy to get with one method up until the mid level 90s.
