A Ys game with a party of old characters? Thoughts?
I hope a future game will have parties full of old characters and see how much they grown.

It's a difficult question.
The series has always been about Adol's adventures in a new land, and the old characters, if any, remain NPCs.

I don't think there will ever be any, but I don't think it's likely unless they are very important characters throughout the series.
And even though there are many references to previous games in this series, the game is designed to be enjoyable no matter where we start.

In other words, that's a very good advantage and also the point where it's hard to find past characters as main characters.

I definitely wouldn't mind if Dogi got the playable spot again but I don't really mind if we just get cycling new characters either since it makes the games that theses characters are in all the more special.

These days, one of the great pleasures of the game is to see what kind of characters the status screen will be filled with.

I think it would be interesting to have a scenario where Dogi leaves for some deeper reason.
And it would be very exciting to be the player character when he comes back.

Would love having Geis back, not to mention Dogi/Hummel etc

Well, it would be nice to see some returning characters every now and then but I doubt we will see the whole party of them, unllike say Trails series. Ys has always been about going to a new land, meeting new people, and uncovering secrets hidden there and having all these old characters appear again goes against that sense of adventuring into the unknown.

I can see some characters occasionally returning if the story relates to them, just like they've done in the past. You're right about the nature of Ys, which pretty much guarantees that this will rarely happen. Stories are largely self contained, although the Romun menace is bound to bring back some characters at some point (such as a certain prisoner in Ys IX). Most characters in Ys however are only relevant in their own homeland.

This is in contrast with Trails where stories are interwoven and involve interactions between large amounts of people and factions (national and international); those characters don't just go away, and some still have relevance long after their death.

Dogi and Geis.

Maybe Terra could come back

After all, putting past characters all over the place assumes that we've really played the past games.

The argument that we can get to know the past characters in the latest game and then get interested in the past games and play them is inconsistent with the fact that the order in which the series is played is frequently debated.

And I don't think the order of play is important.
It can do that because the new one is not much dependent on past characters.
I'm thinking that there might be a few special characters around Romun You-Know-Who, Feena, and Lear.

I dare say it's the order in which they / released, as I have experienced.

Even your profile pic is a Napishtim Character that first appeared in Ancient Ys Vanished.

However, in Napishtem, he is only a guest.

If that's all you want, then go for it.

Make it a Warriors of Ys game.

It's the final journal entry, he's in antarctica (or wherever his final entry takes place) as an old man and gets sucked into a fanservice timebreaking scenario and has to gather all the heroes, and Adols from all over the timeline and take down some multiverse god character.

I wanbt this game so unhealthily bad.

Isn't that something that should be in the new "Ys vs Trails" game?
I'll be honest, I'd be deflated if that brought it into the main story (lol).

First, Let's hope that the story will cover Adol's last adventure.
Personally, I'm praying that he will see Feena again.

Why not? Making a Falcom all star fighting game like Ys vs Sora no Kiseki with like two character per franchises to begin with would be nice to bring back some of their forgotten franchises.

I'm just being paranoid.

I think it would be good to start out with just selected members and their scenarios.
It would also be interesting to create a series of "additional scenarios" where characters are added to each scenario on a regular basis.
(Like Sorcerian)

The field could be the city of Barduq or a place that looks like it, with all sorts of mystical theories.
Basically, if it can replace "Larva" with "the other team", the game may can be scripted to look like that.

The game will be heavier, but I think it can just say "buy a good GPU" for that. (lol)

That's a festival game anyway.
