And why would we still get another pre-Napishtim chapter in Adol's journey? I'm pretty sure that Celceta wrapped the Eldeel story arc pretty well and that Lacrimosa continued what Seven started.
Also protip Ys 5 Snes was translated.
Yes, Aeon Genesis did a pretty good job for it.
Yes Memory of Celceta isn't numbered and the only reason i 100% it on one of my main accounts since i don't care to have numbered ones in my history until we can get them all...
(Memory of Celceta lets you explore 50% of the map before it locks you into story and gives you the choice of which Town/Dungeon to do first once they do lock you into progression)
but i wasn't talking about the remakes they actually did those right.
Apocalypse of Dana would be just fine and less confusing if they removed the 8...
(you know and do something like they already did right with Ys origins..)
Also our expectations wouldn't be as high if they are just spinoffs.
Or they could have made Extinction Level Event of Dana Ys Origins 2 and made Ys 9 Emo Nox Ys 8 since usually the 8th game in the franchises are the emo ones.
Yep and thanks to him i have played all of the mainline Ys games
(or at least 1 version of each of them).
I still think that Falcom should stop numbering their titles (because Ark of Napishtim wasn't being numbered back on the PS2 in the west).
Ys X isn't confirmed and having 3 entirely new games before the remake of Ys V would be a bit too much (as much as how rushed Celceta was).
Maybe it didn't include the number in PS2 because it was the first port under Konami, plus it also was the first English release since Ys III Wanderers from Ys (Wikipedia). And my guess is that by not having number they thought it would sell better since the buyers wouldn't have to worry about the previous games.
That being said the PS2 port was released in 2005, however the Japanese PC handled by Falcom themself was 2 years before. And if you tried to find the box of the PC discs, the number was still there.
https://imgur.com/a/hJW3F7X (This is not exactly the original box, but a re-release for PC)
And once they decided to let XSEED take care of porting their old games to Steam, they somewhat brought back the numbers.
And we are going to have full Cold Steel arc in the next 4.4 hours without knowing the Crossbell Arc, which somewhat is important to CS3 and CS4.
That being said, there must be reason why they didn't touch V yet, and asking them to make it immediately now would only somewhat rush it further. But hey at least we are getting a new Ys game, if you were a Tokyo Xanadu fan it would be more painful waiting...
As for Ys V remake, perhaps they haven't thought of a good way to implement alchemy into the story and the proper game mechanic yet although you are technically using the power of alchemy in Ys IX with monstrum powers. It is possible that somebody at Falcom came up with an interesting idea for the new Ys game and they felt it would be more appropriate to implement it in the brand new game as opposed to the remake.
Speaking of Celceta, Falcom actually described it as "not remake" and brand new title in multiple instances i.e. TGS 2011 (where the game was first announced) and Sony's page on the game itself (https://www.jp.playstation.com/software/title/vljm30026.html). Granted that isn't technically wrong since Falcom never developed its own version of Ys IV until then.
Perhaps Toshihiro is trolling us as Ys V remake is being developed to be so different from both the original concept and SNES game (even more so than Celceta to other Ys IV games) that he sees it as a completely new title rather than the remake.
Celceta was pretty sub-par as a remake (especially when compared to Oath in Felghana) and as the replacement of Dawn of Ys.
I don't want to rush them but Ys V is in a dire need of being remade as it's one of the weakest entry that neither got localized nor remade with the Napishtim canon in mind.
Sorry, wait. Apocalypse of Dana? Which console do I need to get an english version of this? lol. Loved her as a character.
Oh the port hahahaha...I made a program to put it on a single 'core' of my processor and had no issues after the fact.
It certainly was though...I tried telling NIS to do the same thing as a temporary fix, ovbiously to no avail.
