1. Try reinstalling Visual C++ Redist[drive.google.com]? (install both x86 and x64, all of them)

1.5. Also reinstalling DirectX?

2. Try updating your NVIDIA/AMD graphic driver?

3. If yours is a laptop, forcing the game to use dedicated AMD/NVIDIA card instead of integrated Intel HD graphics?

4. Although the issue should've been dealt with by now but it is possible your antivirus still detect ys9.exe from game installation folder as false positive, thus remove it -> Re-verifying game files and add exception to the executable?

5. Try Run as administration, compatbility mode

The more details you write about the machine environment and the error, the more likely you are to get useful information.

If it just "won't start", even the developers will not be able to help you.

I got this error when trying to start the application directly from it's folder

"the application was unable to start correctly 0xc00007b" my machine can run games like Cyberpunk and Scarlet Nexus no problem. Ys IX is no where near as taxing on the system as either of those two.

PC
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
Ram 16.0 GB
System type:
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Home
I think the issue might have to do with 32 bit Vs 64 bit but im not sure

I updated the Drivers, Direct X was already up to date

Well you have 64 bit Win 10 already so that is not the problem, the issue is likely due to corrupted/missing files in Microsoft Visual C ++, DirectX and NET. Framework.

Thus if you already had DirectX to latest, check Visual C++ instead (just try the pack I gave you, tho it misses the latest 2015-2019 so search from microsoft page, remember to install both x64 and x86 versions), else check for windows update for latest NET. Framework (or do it manually yourself).

Hi thanks, I'm not the most computer savvy guy. how can I check for the latest NET.Framework?

NET. Framework by default is already incorporated into Win 10, so check for latest version means check for Win 10 Updates, for example the recent one is [2021-KB5003537 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10] (I updated it around 16th of July 2021).

Usually NET. Framework rarely got issue for W10 users, so Visual C++ is likely the one that cause trouble.

Wait a minute.
Are you aware of what a GPU is?
You need at least the minimum specs of GeForce or RADEON, and at least 2GB of graphics memory in addition to the main memory.
Intel GPUs are not recommended.
It does not matter if other titles work or not.
Not all games will run in the same environment. There are a lot of games out there. It just happens to be the situation right now.

Ok, I'm going to pretend that you aren't being condescending, which you have been to me twice now. I have a Geforce 970 GTX with 16 GB of Ram. Now, if you don't have any actual useful information, I'd appreciate that you would leave me be so I can properly solve this issue.

Thank you.

Thank you, I'm going to try again in the morning, it's getting late. I'll let you know how it goes.

Once again, thank you for helping me out.

I'm looking down on you?
Why not?

You wrote.
Geforce 970 GTX 970 with 16 GB of Ram.

That 16 GB is main memory. But that's not the cause, because the 970 is plenty for this game.

Probably Ys9 chooses the Intel GPU on the CPU side and this has been reported multiple times in the past.
Is there an option within the NVIDIA control panel to pin it to GeForce?
I've solved this twice before with that.

You're the one who said that, aren't you licking my chops for asking the question?

You are indeed flaunting that you know more than a person. Condenscending is just the right word for how you responded to this post.

Again, the OP said they are not the most tech savvy, and if you also noticed, they thanked the person who actually explained what they meant. Get off your high horse and don't expect people to know everything. You could have been nicer with your responses.

FYI, you're not the only person who knows about computers and all terminologies, and I would bet my money that there are more people out there who can answer the OP's questions while being polite. You sound like a 3 year old.

The game runs absolutely perfect with my Intel Arc A750. The whole time over 90 fps with maxed settings.
