Can’t run on win10

I love this game very much. But after installing it through Steam, I found it doesn’t run. I click starter.exe but nothing happens. I try many methods but they all doesn’t work. The other version which I downloaded from Internet works very well, does anyone have a solution can fix the steam version? Thanks!

I don't think your OS is the problem, since the game runs out-of-box on my Windows 10 Pro. Can you post information about your pc (GPU, CPU, RES)? Other than that, you could try standard Steam debug:

1. Verify game cache.

2. Make sure that everything from \Steel Fury Kharkov 1942\redist folder is installed.

3. Disable full screen optimization from starter.exe

4. Run starter.exe, JSGME.exe, shell.exe in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode.

5. Disable bundled mods temporarily using JSGME.exe

6. Ensure that the game is put into Windows Defender (or other Firewall/Anti-Virus) exceptions.

7. Add a profile for the game in your GPU control panel to make it run on dedicated card.

It could also be a registry issue, since you've been running another version of the game. Hopefully some of these solutions work, but I'll stay tuned.

Many thanks! I solved it. I compared the version which can run on my Internet with the Steam version and found the difference. In the version from the Internet there is a folder named loc_eng in data/k42/, but in Steam version its name is loc_rus. I just change this folder's name to loc_eng and then it runs on my computer very well even without compatibility mode.

Maybe I know why this method works. Yesterday I changed my windows system language to Russian(Originally Chinese), and I found that even if I don't change the name of loc_rus the game could run well. Interestingly in Russian system language setting when I changed the loc_rus to loc_eng it became unable to work. I also changed my language setting to English(United States) and in this setting it can't run with loc_rus again. I think depending on the name of loc_rus or loc_eng the game is not compatible with some system language setting. You should change its name according to your own system language.

Go to "common/Steel Fury Kharkov 1942/data/k42" and rename "loc_rus" to "loc_eng"
That should do it!

i was only able to get it to work by going into starter.exe and setting compatibility to run in 640x480. if i change res in game and take it out of 480 mode it wont show the full screen. is it possible to get it to run even on 1920x1080?

Thank you very much! I changed the folder name to "loc_eng," but it still won't run. I also tried changing it to "loc_cht," but it didn't work either. Thanks for your response. I must have some other issues, I suppose.

I successfully launched the game once, configured the resolution, and then exited the game. However, when I tried to run the game again, it failed to launch. I am currently investigating the cause.

Right now, I've set the resolution to 1920x1080 at 144Hz. However, when I start playing the game, the screen resolution is stuck at 640x480. This issue is really puzzling me. Any ideas?
