As a linguist, I'd love to. But I'm curious as to what you mean by "Simplified English", and how it relates to the rest of your offensive statement.
But I still think it's a stupid name, like naming a game Pierre or Mike or Jose or something. But judging by the reviews, I don't think a bad name is going to be this game's biggest problem.
On a vast majority s of websites and in games in the language options are 2 versions of English. British English with a union jack next to it and Simplified English with a star spangled banner. It's not my idea btw I just noticed that couple years back and the more I read steam forums the more I can guess with a high percentage of success to what category of English someone belongs to. I hope that answers your question
Try not to think of Gord as a name for a person cause wherever u came from there is s abbreviation for this
U really come off as an ignorant piece of ♥♥♥♥ no offense
And you’re under the impression the American flag means “Simplified” rather than “American”. A “vast majority” of sites and games told you this? They also mentioned the words “retarded” and “hillbilly”?
You don’t know that “Simplified English” basically used by Wikipedia and engineering companies?
As you’re accusing someone else of doing something similar, a little research goes a long ways before flying off the handle.
And yeah, while there is such a thing as simplified English, what you're thinking of is American English. Only difference is some words are spelled slightly differently and some slang is different.
But such a cultured person as you surely knows this already.
I like my colour, neighbourhood, and my honour with "U"s.
Wonder if they'd have made more money if they gave it a name that wasn't terrible.
Here's the perfect example of needing an education
"Dumb" probably isn't the word I would use to describe the name of the game, but the OP has a point and what the word means doesn't factor into it. It doesn't make it a more appealing name for a product. Imagine if Banished was named Town, if Rimworld was named Colony, if Ostriv was named Village. Yeah, that's boring and lazy and would signal a lack of creative talent on the developer's part. That's essentially what the developers have done, though, and they might as well have named it Fred or Ralph for all the creativity they put into naming it Gord. I mean, damn, I guess it's no surprise the game has a 49% player rating when the developers can't even think of a name that isn't the video game equivalent of the words "Potato Chips" scrawled on the side of a plain brown bag.
But nah, let's not talk about that. Let's just skip right over that and jump straight to running off at the mouth about how dumb and uncultured the OP is because he didn't know something that has nothing to do with anything. And just in case people aren't already convinced of our mental infancy, let's be sure to drag the usual ignorant drivel about Americans into it even though the OP isn't even an American.
people will only see this.... and nothing that comes after .. u know that right ??
no... you mean than usualy, offensive message tend to be responded in an offensive manner? Incredible!
The name is definitly not incredible, i suppose, like a lot of other game names... but i think what started the cascad of bad reaction, and that you're not adressing, is that somoene just moqued the use of a word in another language publicly because it sound like a diminutive in his own cultur...
I'm not saying it's horrible, but definitly something that can start critics. (not necesserly in the best manner... but definitly not very different than the start of the conversation, right?)
Maybee some people want to show how inteligent their are, are pretentious, etc... maybee... But maybee the main message was "stop being self cultural centered and assume every title must be chosen depending of what you understand from your cultural standpoint." and not "see how dumber than me you're"
And i don't think this message has less strength if you're right on the idea that the name was lazy or anything like that.
