don't you have your savegames in your computer and on the steam cloud?
your savegames must be in this path: C:\Users\yourname\AppData\LocalLow\Triskell Interactive\Pharaoh\yournumber\Family
if they are not in there, or they are but you can't see them in game. you can try to move your files to another location, and let steam cloud copy them again in your computer.
good luck!
(a day i was playing pharaoh while steam update, and when i exited the game, cloud couldn't synchronize, i had to exit steam, ran again, and ran the game, to got them sync.)
To lose your game progress usually means the family.meta file has been corrupted or emptied in either a game or computer glitch.
The first thing should be to check your games files in the Steam Client and do an integrity game files check.
So right click on your game (left column)
Click on - Properties
Select - Installed Files
To the right click on - Verify Integrity of game files
(I am using the Steam Beta Client, so there may be a slight difference in finding the Integrity setting)
**********
Edit: Follow Minin1000k advice is a good idea. Plus allow Steam to update first before trying the fix below :)
If you have still lost your game history, then close down the game and you can try this fix:
Click on keyboard - Windows key + R key
Now paste and OK: %Appdata%/../LocalLow/Triskell Interactive/Pharaoh
Click on the top folder - should be a long string of numbers (765611xxxxxxxxx)
Click on - Family
Click on - 'yourPharaohName' (what you called yourself in game)
In here are your Saves and a family.meta file - click on Saves folder and check that your game saves are still in this folder.
All there? - if OK go back one folder (click on up arrow)
Right click on your Saves folder and copy, then paste this file onto your desktop or somewhere handy.
Now go back another folder (up arrow again) and delete the folder with your pharaoh name.
Start the game and your family should be missing (if not restart computer and check above)
Create your family again (exact same name)
Close down the game without doing anything else.
Open your 'yourPharaohName' folder again (follow above instructions) and copy and paste the backed up Save file from your desktop into yourPharaohName folder.
From here you should be able to start the game, load your last save and resume your journey :)
i didn't know what you explain in your answer.
Just for curiosity i went to right click in my game, and Local files isn't in properties, it's in 'Administrar' (maybe Manage) and if i click on local files, it opens a folder. Verify integrity is in properties, installed files.
thanks for your tip
I'm using the Beta Client, so there may be differences in how to locate different settings, so your information is most welcome
i just encountered the same thing. My save is still on the local game path, but whenever i start the game it doesn't show my family anymore. I tried everything including reinstalling and turning off cloud save.
Nothing seems to work.
i read another post of you telling you can't create your family again, roo explain here how to do it
It doesn't work though. You have access to the saves once again, but upon finishing a mission you get a notification that there already is different progress for said family. Either you restart with mission one or when you choose option 2 to load it puts me into mission 2.
in this thread you'll find instructions https://steamcommunity.com/app/1351080/discussions/1/3777993814841779008/
good luck!
I made a backup of the {number} folder and let steam re-download what was in the cloud: no 'Family.meta' files were downloaded.
I then thought of creating a new 'test' family to check the contents of the file, it turns out it's binary. After playing with it for a bit, I think it stores the name of the family, the avatar, and potentially the list of save games. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be an easy way to rebuild it.

Nothing of that works.
I cannot find my campaign saved games anywhere. In previous windows we had to unlock the APPDATA files but now with this new Window nothing works. What stupidity.
