when building monuments, how many stonemasons vs work camps do you need?
I built a few stonemasons and a ton of work camps... should it be the other way around? i have a ton of work camps but theres still some stone waiting to be delivered.

Probably, maybe, it depends on all sorts of stuff like which monument are you building, at which stage you are at. It isn't about ratios, everything is depending on distance between stuff.
If you have some work camps across the map from the monument for farming and having a road connection to the monument, those will hinder delivering the stone because once in a while they will get assigned to send a dude to deliver stone to the stonemasons.
It depends on the bottleneck you're having, sometimes the bottleneck is limited import stone (40 per year) in which case you can't do much to speed it up.
If you have a ton of stone and the stonemasons on the pyramid keep receiving it relatively fast, then yes, you might need more stonemasons to fasten up the process.
Also keep in mind that at the start of the pyramid, the base, ideally you'd need a ton of everything but you don't have the money, employment to support that. As you progress building the pyramid and get closer to the top, the need decreases with each level, while you are able to employ more people.
So, it's complicated, try to identify the bottleneck in your case and increase that. It could be the stone input, or the work camps if stonemasons waiting on the pyramid are waiting a lot of time to receive the stone, or the stonemasons if there's a ton of stone and the work camps are delivering it fast.

I have no farms to worry about. As i stated my problem is i had a ton of work camps yet there was still stone sitting in the warehouses. It was getting delivered but not at the pace i would expect given that i had like 20+ workcamps.

1 work camp will dispatch ~4 dudes during a month, to either work on the floodplain farms or deliver stone to the stonemasons on top of the pyramid. If you have no farms to worry about that's the optimal case.
1 stonemason guild will dispatch 4 dudes on top of the pyramid waiting for stone.
In that regard, you can try anywhere between a 1:1 and 1:2 ratio of stonemason guilds to work camps, depending if you are able to wait a bit for them to dispatch the next delivery or you want to fasten that up a bit.
Again, assuming everything is in close distance to the monument, you have plenty of stone, etc. If they start chewing through your stone supply and you have to increase that, you're on the right track.

I think you want four or eight work camps per guild, keep those stonemasons on their toes. At the upper layers there isn't room for all those stonemasons at once so they are wasted, but if you need to keep people employed that doesn't matter.

I think even 4 work camps per guild is very excessive, 8 would be completely useless.
Only thing you'd get having 4 work camps for each guild is that they will deliver stone to all 4 stonemasons immediately, instead of waiting for the next guy, I'm not sure if that is such a big improvement, at the cost of way less stonemasons on top of the pyramid, which might cancel out all that speed up.
If you reach the point where the stonemasons cover all the current layer of the pyramid, then sure, go crazy with the work camps.
Also, OP was probably in a similar situation, it didn't seem to work that good for him.

You are working on assumption (see Under Siege 2 for that which assumption is the mother of all). Until the author of the post answers my questions, clarifies the situation, then every answer is assumption.
Wrong, why bother posting if you have nothing to contribute to the topic?
