my house needs "more space to expand" ?

I have no idea what to do when my fancy residence needs "more space to expand". I thought the house where built around a 2x2 grid system ?

no the fancy houses go up as large as 4x4 spaces for the top teir. I always space them 5 apart.

4x4, then a small statue on the 5th space for appeal and gardens on that 5 block square... but not in the space of the 4x4 - in the og game, they would grow over the gardens but i've been told they won't do that now in this game. then just give them what they need - click on the house it will tell you what they need for the next upgrade.

Be careful about how many houses you let become "fancy" - each one reduces the number of active workers. Keeping some that *can't* expand is probably a good idea.

I would not worry about 3x3 or 4x4 houses until you need them. I find it better to have a separate housing area for these kind of houses.

As some others have said here, you don't necessarily WANT to keep evolving houses beyond the 2x2 ones. You need both separate areas or blocks for the working class to live in with maybe one or two really fancy estate block with max services where you evolve the houses into 3x3 or even 4x4 ones. Fancy estates like that will generate alot of tax income. But they will not be very effective use of space and won't generate as much workers per square.

if you have can supply all the needs to a house, you can build a road around a 4x4 plot placing 1x1 house in the corner and it'll grow into a 4x4 estate

Small hint : houses should be able to can expend over gardens (at least it worked in the older version / I think I saw it happen in this one also)

hello and excuse me, but the houses can grow over the gardens in this version. i'm playing right now a map where you need 4000 people and the houses normally grow over the gardens just like in old game

you need to have 3x2 blocks with gardens behind or a free space; and next to it there needs to be something that's not a house on both sides. Houses can expand from one original block to any size; and even if you leave space they could expand to any free or garden space to 2x2 then 3x3 or 4x4. You could also have 2x2 with a statue space you erase when the time is right for expansion.

Good to know, i saw someone complaining that they did not, I rmr they did in the original for what ever reason they must have been wrong. I don't bother with elite housing until its a requirement and haven't built them here yet :)
