Tribute bugged?
I'm trying to up my kingdom rating to finish off Rostja - need 50. Its sitting around 30 constantly because my "inability to pay tribute" is hurting it. I have 30k debens. I can pay tribute. It just...wont?

I dont want to gift my way out because it appears thats bugged too - any time I draw *any* salary, even one lower than my ranking, it also hurts my kingdom rating because I am paying myself above my station :steamsalty:

I think it wants you to Send a Gift (Political Overseer, next to Give to City).
This takes a % of your personal savings, not city funds, and is supposed to instantly give you some amount of rating, not sure of specifics.
I've done this even when paying myself max salary so I dont think that should be an issue.

I know I can get it done, it just doesnt seem like this is how you're supposed to do it. Tribute is meant to be paid out of your treasury yearly unless you are in debt. For some reason it just wont take the money.

In the original version kingdom rating didn't climbed from self. You had more or less only 3 ways to increase it:
- fullfill request fast
- send gifts from your personal money (low increase and must wait between gifts)
- good standing with gods (one of them afair had the buff to increase kingdom rating)

Whelp, sending gifts is completely offset by the rating loss from "paying myself too much" at this point.

Requests are always immediately filled

Gods are all as happy as they could possibly be.

May have to cheat my way out of this one - I can see absolutely no solution to the spiral at this point

"Your continued inability to provide annual tribute lowers your reputation throughout the kingdom, reduces this rating (Kingdom)" the tribute is broken

You need to set yourself the proper wage and send gifts (manually via your adviser) which you can afford with said wage. Once a year. Early on that's going to be the gift for 20 something debens. This is the same mechanic as the original game. If anything, kingdom rating is too easy to maintain in this one.

Yeah annual tribute is currently bugged - the treasury overseer clearly shows you are always paying ZERO tribute which should be auto calculated and auto paid when not in debt.

Sending gifts is a separate thing, and is not mandatory, especially when Ra is available to bless the ratings easily.

Bugged tribute essentially means for scenarios without Ra, you will have to keep/raise kingdom rating by fulfilling requests, having a salary equal or below rank (rating +0 or +1 per year respectively), or giving gifts paid with personal savings. If you manage to get very low ratings from having too high of a salary for too long, the fastest way to raise it is to spend a large portion of your savings with gifts every 12 months - lavish gifts are the most effective, but cost at least half your current savings every time, so you may end up having to use most of your savings if not careful. You can just save up again with max salary the next time you have Ra on your side.

OG
Non-payment of Tribute resulted in a penalty of 2^N Realm Ranking points once a year, where N is the number of consecutive years of non-payment of Tribute.
There was also the so-called Reminder, which fined you again after 6 months.
(probably a vestige and a bug because it looks unreasonable)
Thus the penalty was 2(2^N).
You started with a rating of 20 (or 32).
4+8+16+32+...
It is not difficult to calculate that non-payment for more than 3 years led to end of game.

Are you getting real penalty points? (I think no)
Or do you think it has a passive effect? (it doesn't render)
3. Old Kingdom
- 14. Rostja (Giza)
I already played this mission, there is no payment of Tribute.
But the Adviser warns if there are Zero Tribute payments, yes, this is a status bug.

sending Gifts and use Ra

:O I've been misunderstanding that mechanic for almost a quarter of a century XD

Same here, I have more than enough money but the tribute does not get payed automatically. Does it have anything to do with going into debt in the beginning stages of a map? I have not tried it yet, but either way, this is bug.
