I have no ideal how to use them, what's the interface to make them do anything. Thanks.

The army is static in this game, unlike the original game. You can't move them. They will defend your city when it is attacked but it gets an autoresolve and basically that's all.

I did not understand .. In the first you could move the departments. In this you just have to create the army as you want and then the game will deal with simulating the battle with the enemy, than what you have created???

Army is removed and when there is a battle, you see an auto resolve popup. I think to make bigger army faster, you need more forts, then supply them as required.

So you're telling me that there are no real battles... That there are no armies that invade and destroy the city or kill inhabitants like in the first one, but just a popup that tells you "hey man your army has lost/has won"

Tell me I misunderstood

As someone who played both Caesar 3 and Pharaoh a ton, I'm glad the military is gone. It had so many problems that I don't fault them for not attempting to fix it. It would've just created more problems

The important thing is that it still does what it was meant to do: put pressure on the economy
This aint Zeus bro. There are battles but their basicaly "you have the bigger army = you win" kinda stuff. In Zeus you could command them but then again... not realy usefull. Hope they remake that one next, cant wait for it realy with Pharao they did an exelent job. It even added some features making it a better fit for even me to play (and i usualy HATE city builders XD)

It doesn't surprise me that many people don't like it (on steam in 1 day the percentage dropped by 6 points) because then I wonder what's the point of making wall defenses... When in the original it was still fun to see the tower guards throw spear on the enemy or better yet, create 50 police posts just to witness a clash, police vs enemy army...

Come on who has never done this experiment with the original one

Well I like it, and many others since the OG RTS was complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. It was barely even called RTS at the time. This is some much better as a city builder as it should be. Those that dropped it and just old people upset that "their game was changed". Just get over it and see this as an improvement that will draw in the younger players since they won't have to deal with the broken BS that the OG had.

Gaming must not appeal to young people by completely changing the game to fit the standards of young people who don't know how to play video games. The combat was a fundamental part, which had to be rewritten, but not changed like this.... It's just an excuse to say "old players don't like it".... There are useless buildings like walls and other things then.

Gotta say, I am never a fan of dumbing down, removing features, etc...

If the old combat was bad then why not focus on improving it instead, adding more mechanics, making it more complex, creating extra strategies, etc..?

Yeah this would have been the best way. Improve on the old mechanic for a better experience in general and have also an option to disable it/have it work autocalculate like it does now. I don't expect any RTS like in Age of Empires or Starcraft but just leaving it out completely feels like admitting defeat by the devs.

Ok well what's the point of an army if you can't use it, just remove the whole concept or give it life choose the pain.... you can't have your cake and eat it too, this concept is IMO pathetic.....

I have played 2-3 missions with military thus far. You're right, unsure what walls are for (I have not got to a mission with walls yet, though). If you do lose, random buildings in your city will get destroyed and some of your money will be taken. From what I heard, not all buildings can be destroyed. I had a warship mission and do not understand what the transport vessels are for. The attacks do not tell you which direction the armies come from. Maybe you need the transports if they attack on the west side, but your army is separated on the other side of the river? In addition, the army never told me if they were coming by land or sea (I don't think). I did not have my warships built and received a popup of two of their ships vs. zero of mine. Then immediately another popup of a land invasion, which I won. Nothing was destroyed/stolen, despite not having any warship to fight the enemy warships.

I can agree, the current military is horrible and flawed at that, there isn't really any fighting going on, the army in the city is almost useless, the same goes for the navy, you can't send your units anywhere, stop predators or anything like that , the popup is also strange, infantry ignores the enemy, runs past him and the archers shoot into nothing or not at all, you don't even see flying arrows, that was much better regulated in the original, you would have had so much potential now but that to mess up like that, the soldiers are really cute but that's about it, do they gain any experience at all? they change? what about these upgrades? does something happen optically? why do I need walls and towers as well as city gates, completely pointless, what were they thinking? In my opinion the military was a good and important part of the game, the rest of the game is almost identical to the original, wonderful, simply beautiful, apart from all the bugs, so why not make the military reasonable?
