Option to switch between new and old music ?
Hello there !

I've been looking around a bit but couldn't find an answer to that !
I do like the new musics, but I also love the old music as well. I would like to know if there will be an option or a way to switch between new ones and old ones !

They must hate this question, I've asked it many many times. They should have added this option in my opinion. I will not be purchasing it unless the old music can be modded in, its part of the draw for me. The new music is good, but it will never be as good - imo - as the original.

There will be no option to switch to older assets (such as graphics, music etc) in Pharaoh: A New Era.

There will also be no modding support for the game, so you won't be able to just "mod in old assets" (especially since they wouldn't be compatible in the first place).

Old one is more than playable with widescreen patch, this cashgrab with terrible mobile graphics can go rot, really.

Wow...not even any kind of old music for the players who rocked this game in the 90's? Way to support your base customers Devs!

I don't get you people. You come to this discussion forum and complain about the new music and new graphics. Go play the old one. The old one works fine, throw a widescreen patch in there and you're done. Instead, you come over here and complain when it's pretty clear they are not going to cater to you people. Let those of us enjoy this remake without your pissy attitude on this discussion page. If I was a mod, the lot of you would have been banned a long time ago.

You don't need mod support to mod the files, I'm sure someone will put something together.

Well I've not seen or played the demo so I dont know if the following will work. However Caesar IV has mp3 files in the Music directory so they can be replaced with what every mp3s you prefer. what you would have to check is length of file and bitrate to ensure the new files can be read.

If people like you would rule the world, we would still live in caves...

"I do not play the game because there is no old music"

It's just pathetic... I'm glad that no one cares about your opinion.

"Cashgrab" HAH! It's about 24 years late for a cash grab. Go be a cringe manbaby somewhere else. We wont miss you.

I'm confused, other than new graphics, new UI and new music, what will this remake provide?

From what I've read it just seems like a mod but costs money and lacks modding support.

I've had it on my list for a long time but I just don't see exactly what's the benefit for paying for this game now that it's a day before release.

Pharaoh ANE is certainly not a mod: its a standalone game. While its a remake, it was always the intention of the developers to copy the original game like for like (just without all the random bugs and mission softlocks present in the OG version). The game was always marketed as being a fixed version of OG Pharaoh but brought up to more modern standards.

It also has some new features to help attract a new audience and to include new QOL features that will be familiar to players of Zeus and Emperor.

If you don't feel that the remake offers value for money, thats fine: you can still buy and play the OG Pharaoh as much as you wish. Think of the remake as Pharaoh v2, if they had more time back in the day and the kind of internet speeds we've come to expect this decade.

This is my hope.

Ah ok; makes sense coming from a perspective that it was marketed as just a copy with QoL!

I spent countless hours on the game in my youth!

I mean, this is kind of amusing given I softlocked the very first mission by deleting roads. Couldnt place the roadblock, couldnt place a road. Had to restart.

Maybe someone wants to play a product a bit better tuned to modern os. Who are you to tell others what they can and can't complain about as long as they're doing it in a civil way?

The original game had minimap, the music is beloved by the community (contrary to the remake music which IMO isn't bad but worse than the original), there's no proper ultrawide support and I read that the devs' stance on modding is abysmal (that they're against it and claim that it's illegal). I have no firm confirmation on the modding thing though so take that with a grain of salt. Also the tutorial forces you to place stuff in a defined order and place instead of free placement from the beginning like in the original.

Overall - as you kindly suggest I and many people will stick to old game and Nebuchadnezzar since they do stuff better.

BTW by making people not buy the game you're reeeeeally supporting this dev, way to go!
