Resolving "access violation" error on modern PCs in 2023
I know this game is delisted and hard to come by. However, if you do have it and try to play it on a modern PC you'll constantly receive "access violation" errors on startup. After 2 days of troubleshooting, I found a solution. You need to create a batch script to launch the game with 8 cores. Doing this allowed me to launch the game on my PC with a 13th gen Intel and 4090 GPU.

Here are the steps - open a text editor like Notepad++ and add the following:
cd "path/to/file/graw2.exe" Start /Affinity FF graw2.exe

Now save it as graw2.bat and presto, you're finished. You'll have to double-click the bat file every time to launch the game, but at least it works now. Enjoy!

Nothing happens when trying to launch the batch file.

The path is correct, tried launching batch file but nothing.

Can you post everything that's in your bat file? I can take a look.

I get the same issue. What I put in my graw2.bat is below:

cd "D:/Program Files (x86)/UBISOFT/Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2/graw2.exe"
Start /Affinity FF graw2.exe

Then the error I get is:

Crash in application version: 0.3048

Unhandled exception - access violation

C STACK:
graw2 (???) : ???
??? (???) : ???
graw2 (???) : ???

Renderer: normal
Physics : normal

I notice you're using the drm free version, but I can't see why that would really matter. Have you installed the legacy PhysX drivers? They're required for Win10 and above. Also, make sure you're on the latest update which I believe is 1.05.

I had installed this previously: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/physx-9-13-0604-legacy-driver/

Not sure if there's a different version or type of legacy driver I would need instead. And the game is patched to 1.05 as well. Maybe I should've switched from retail to steam version when I had the chance. :steamsad:
.bat file needs to reference to .exe, so place .bat file within game directory or folder itself.

The game runs on my WIN 10/13900K/4090 system.

I don't have any problems running any of the old Tom Clancy's games, I just uploaded artwork yesterday from the original Ghost Recon it's release date is 2001.
