Red Dragon Carp

I got the quest for catching the red dragon carp in the little pond by the village entrance, but after fishing from morning to night for 2 months straight, I still haven't had any luck. I have fished normal, silver and gold, I have done my best to hit every type of weather and time, and I am running out of ideas. Have anyone else caught this one? Are there any specific triggers? (Max level rod)-

Sorry for the late response. Fish spawns don't seem to depend on weather or time of day. The lil' dumb fish is just a very rare spawn...

Legendaries will be coloured red, not black/silver/gold, so you can ignore those. Casting the rod itself doesn't cost PE so you can re-cast if you see no red fish approaching.
