Is there a good gift to give helpers? How do you know what gifts helpers like?

They have no preferences. If you gift them clothes they'll put them on, and they'll turn down quest items (same as other NPCs). So whatever is abundant works -- and there are a lot of rocks.

I just wish that there was a way to increase their friendship level faster. I know that if you buy what they are selling or if you sell what they want to buy then that gives you more friendship points with them, but you can only do that twice a week and that is only if they show up.
