Upgraded Animal Enclosure Layout?

Does someone know how big an upgraded animal enclosure is?
I put the bubble cow next to the already existing sleepy pic enclosure and behind the bubble cow enclosure I build a mutantsheep enclosure. Including the gugu bird, all enclosures say there is no space for upgrade... so I assume the layout of the upgraded enclosure is much bigger. So I would like to know HOW big exactly so I can plan where to put them :)

BTW how does the "move enclosure to another place on the farm" work? I haven't tried so far but I guess I need to or I can't upgrade my existing enclosures :(

Don't use the upgrade pen on any of the animals because they end up with crazy shapes, just don't like this transition. As to the move enclosure I've used it a few times, all you'll get is a sign in your inventory to place the pen where you chose.

Damn, I hoped they would just upgrade the pens a bit more normally. Like instead of the 2 x 2 starting layout the next level is 3 x 3, but crazy layouts sound really bad. I like to plan ahead where to place my enclosures.
So it's better to buy just another enclosure if I want to have more then 4 animals of the same type? In the end I want to collect every color x3

I really like the crazy layouts and there are quite a few to choose from. It gives my farm character not just having the normal square pens.

I like square pens more because I can plan ahead where to put what and so on ^^

You can adjust the layout of the pens, I have my pens all in squares, you cant place it anywhere around most of the time but exiting the the adjustment menu and opening it again lets you place it differently than before

Yeah, I noticed this ^^
But I would really like if I would be able to upgrade the small square pens into just bigger square pens so I can plan beforehand (before I place my small pens to leave enough space to upgrading later).The way I placed my pens right now I can't even see into what crazy pattern it would upgrade because the game only says I don't have enough space for upgrading. And I really love the area next to the sleepy pig pen for the other pens. So I'm unsure if I will upgrade the pens ever ^^" I also have my butterlfy house in the same area because it really fits nicely in one of the corners and having all the flowers around.

You can change the shape of them , click the board and it lets you move each square round individually after the pen is built to make the shape you want

I was able to fit all 50 animals within 2 workstations, to unlock the auto-feeder. 2 medium pens and 2 small pens in each workstation. You will need to pick up a small pen, then move it to a space that is bigger in order to upgrade it, then you can move it again later when you have your layout in mind.
