When inside the mines you have to smash the hell out of ores to find the portal to the next level. Basically like finding the ladder under a rock in Harvest Moon or most other games like that.
I don't know how far along you are story wise, but raising animals is fun too. Have you found the spirit pet yet?
Any unusual colors caught on Backhill?
Befriended the townies and uncovered their inner worlds? Acted as the major?
As far as i can tell... and i just started playing yesterday... there should be lots to do :)
As far as getting deeper into the mine, there are portals that appear after breaking random ore nodes. Or the player can jump off the side of an island to descend at the cost of some lost health. Once on a lower floor activate the Goddess Statue to unlock the floor.
Early on you will see trees around the farm with blue streaks which should give you some blue wood. If you go around the town there are also stacked logs you can chop for lots of basic lumber.
In the black lake area there are lots of different trees. just walk up to one and check if it is a fruit bearing tree and try to leave those, or shake them to try and drop goodies.
The red Leaved trees near the cows drop mahogany for example
It also depends on your logging level and the type of axe you have but it will tell you if you dont have a strong enough axe,
Also talk to Becky (the logger) and use the Assign option to send her on mission to gather wood. Sometimes she will also find a map which you present to her to unlock additional areas.
Do the same with Kroc for ores. And once you get to Iron Tier for all your tools, or the ones you can craft at Iron Tier, look at the Construction shop and see if you can upgrade the blacksmith or the logging or the mine in town to unlock higher tiers.
There are trees around with blue rings around them, are they random around the whole town, or are they in specific locations?
How do you assign/order/instruct either abby or becky to do things for you? not seen this so confused on this bit as well......
I am only up to level 10 myself, but yes, i have found some crystal wood trees on islands in the mine round levels 5 - 10. i assume at deeper levels there will be other types as well.
You need to talk to the NPC's to build up friendship points with them. When you talk to them there will be a dialogue option called Assign. This will let you send them out to collect resources. You may need to do some quests for them first. I have 3 NPC's at the moment that can do this, logging, mining and fishing.
There will be green-leaved trees with blue streaks around town and the farm that can drop blue wood and normal wood. The blue-leaved trees are crystal wood trees but need a silver axe or better. The ones in the mine can be chopped with an iron axe I think but the ones around the map need at least silver. As do the Black Obsidian trees near the sheep area at black lake.
As for other things, the idea is the build up the town and build up the friendships so you can get them to do things for you. I am currently doing commissions and not really talking to them that much, but the commisions board confused me so i have made another post on here about that bit.
so there are about 3 types of wood, one from the blue ring barked trees the other 2 from the mines. how do i access more levels of the mines....???
You fall off the edge next to a point where it should have a zip line to it, after that make sure to activate the teleport which you should land next to. there is regular trees, obsidian, fruit trees, crystal trees all on main land from what ive seen so far.. in the mine about lvl 4/5 you will run into star trees, other wise to get star would a bit of luck from cutting regular tree's, fruit trees have a chance to give higher end wood as well.
Are you sure that Mahogany is found at the red-leaved trees? I've been cutting trees near the ranch, right at the warrior's house but I got no Mahogany. I guess it's a rare wood because weekend market sells them at 15000 gold for 3 pieces. If you know please help.

Iron star wood - ??? assume from the mines
Mahogany - ??? unsure

! Dont chop down all the pink ones though and be careful. Some are sweetberry trees and can drop 2-4 berries when shaken. Sweetberries are worth quite a bit .... just saying :D

and mahogany wood is a rare drop from the red leaves trees, but found as a trunk in certain levels of the mines. there's also a bug right now where the item "red wood" may be called "mahogany." you'll be able to tell the difference by looking at the picture: "red wood" just looks like a pinkish log, while "mahogany" looks red and has veins running through it.
so if someone is asking you for "mahogany," look at the picture to figure out if it's red wood they want, which is muchhh easier to get.
