Report a translation problem
It is because the game is very poorly designed. I often did the same thing as you. I never used the sticks and I never scrubbed backwards. Well, almost never. A few times. I got to the ending without really seeing any of the special scenes and it didn't make much sense.
I did go back and figure out how to find some of them, but by that point it kind of ruined the experience.
They must not have had any game testers that play the way I do.
