Too long, too difficult.
Near the anniversary of 1 year without playing the game, I decided to play it again.

I never found out where to go. The game is not linear enough. It's good to be open world, but not to the point where you have NO IDEA WHERE TO GO. Yes I know there is a map, but it is terrible.

Is there a difficulty setting? I had 0 problems with difficulty in Sands of Time, only a few problems with difficulty in The Two Thrones, but in WW it's just IMPOSSIBLE...I never got past the area where the big guy throws junk at you causing AoE damage. And yes, I had like 5 or 6 life upgrades at that point.

It's just so annoying. I regret getting this dumb game. Sands of Time and Two Thrones are so much better.

It's a shame because I love the gothic dark theme WW has. It's my type of ♥♥♥♥. But it just had to be so hard and nonlinear with a terribly bad map. Seriously it's a horrible map. You bring it up, and it shows the surface of the island. That's all. It doesn't show inside, it shows a very un-specific spot of where the Prince is, and a very vague location marker for an objective.

if its to difficult for you then you're not good enough (it took me a lot of time) but i completed the game and if that one guy that is throwing junk at you is to difficult ... its getting a lot harder (sorry my english is terrible)

You have to make that big guy to throw that junk in two woden doors, one of them leads to life upgrade.

The combat in this game is pretty unfair. The first time through, I played on Normal and struggled a bit. Not with any sort of real challenge, it was mostly just cheap garbage that made fights last longer than they should. Now whenever I replay it (which is a ton, this is my favorite 3D PoP), I just set the combat to easy so I can enjoy the environments and platforming a bit better. And yes, it is a very sprawling game, but you'll figure it out.

Oh come on, the game is challenging but it's not that hard and it's not a sandbox if you compare it to the real deal like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Basically the only thing you have to do in order to find your way is to look around occasionally because you can very clearly see if you'll have to visit a place further in the game. On top of that cutscenes and especially those parts where the camera shows you around the place make it really-really straightforward. Back in the day in Symphony of the Night we'd have to figure those things out all by ourselves.

As for combat being unfair on tougher difficulties: no it isn't. The main difference in the difficulty is that on hard enemies do a lot more damage so you have to be good at using the environment, doing combos, you have to pay attention not to get cornered and be on the lookout for health increases. That's all basically, I always play on hard and combat was never super hard.

The first time I played this game back on the original Xbox. It pissed me off to no end. Throwing my controller, yelling at my tv, etc.

Then one day, many months later. I sat down and was determined to finish Warrior Within. Well, let's just say, this is one of my favorite games now.

Just stick it out, think things through. And pay attention to what is going on around you.

This was one of the very few games that I gave up beating since the 8 bits era.
There's a very long platform sequence with instant death jumps that I couldn't beat after a few hours of frustration. I wish I could have skipped that part because I was really enjoying all the dual blade violence with gritty visuals and Godsmack soundtrack.

You gave up?

What is so hard here?
Ninjas?

It was a long time ago so I don't remember exactly the part, but it was long instant death "parkour sequence", and IIRC there was one jump that was always blocked by a falling block or something. I was out of the time rewind stuff so it was very frustrating. I'm not a noob on hardcore platform games, so it might have even been a glitch or bug.
Anyway, as I've said, I really liked the game until that point.

Try Dark Souls, then try PoP WW, i'm pretty sure you will shed tears of happiness ;).

I agree; the game is too challenging. I had fun with Sands of Time, but Warrior Within is incredibly frustrating. The repetitive, excessively difficult combat with stupid metal guitar music, the confusing backtracking level design, save points that are ridiculously far apart. This game is a big PITA. :rage:
I remember when I played this some years ago on my old laptop and it's intel EXTREME graphics ... lol , one of the rare good looking game it's could run , the only thing I found hard was some of the boss fights , you spent more time blocking and avoiding hit's then attacking the boss itself.

not only that but there been once where the game was stuck with the screen warp effect during a boss fight .
like if I was constantly using the sand's to reverse time ... at first I din't knew the game was glitching and kept trying beating the boss for at least one hour straight , only to find out it was not supposed to be like that when I tried again the next day.
