I have the same problem: The game wont launch, but no error codes..? I'm slighty annoyed.

I figured it out, i had to set the exe to run in compatibility mode for windows XP. just have to find it in the steam folder. easy if you go to properties and browse local files.

You have to browse to the local files and find the .exe. Right click and go to properties. there should be a compatability tab, tell it to run in under windows XP

I'm having this issue and setting to compatibility mode hasn't fixed it. I tried XPsp2 and XPsp3. I enabled it on both PrinceOfPersia.exe and POP2.exe.

After much reading and experimentation I found a couple things that work. Firstly, as I alreayd mentioned, no compatibility settings made any difference so I disabled compatibilty modes.
Having admistrator rights on both POP2 and the launcher did not work. Leaving the launch menu open (Holding control at launch if it doesn't appear automatically) and then navigating to the install folder and manually clicking on POP2 does work. That's annoying to have to do though. Finally setting the launch app (princeofpersia.exe, not pop2.exe) to run as adminstrator but leaving pop2.exe alone has it launching from Steam as it should now.

Just leaving this here as alternate solutions. :)
