You have to go down the whole rope and then run on the wall, normally the character doesn't fall down afterwards.

If you try to swing and you aren't at the bottom already, the prince should just slide down automatically though...
Although you might want to stop on the rope, and try to slide down, just to make sure he isn't in a weird state where the game thinks he is at the bottom of the rope but he actually isn't?
And another essential question to ask is the infamous "have you tried turning it off and on again", as in exiting the game and then booting it up again. It has been a couple weeks since the question was first asked, after all.

I had to download a cheat and keep spamming rewind until the game bugged out and I somehow ended up on the other side. There are two more sections where you will encounter this weird illogical bug, good luck.
