Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

Hardest plataforming section ever
Excuse my bad english,i'm from Brasil, all my english come from enterteinment (games, music, movies, etc)

Well,I bought the Pop trilogy in this last sale, have just played Pop 2008 and Forgotten Sands before., from this franchise(although i consider myself experienced in 3d plataformers, having played lots of Tomb Raider titlles)

I started with Sands of Time ,the first game i play using mouse and keyboard(i dont have a pc gamepad)and it was hard to get used to ,the game itself was not hard, but the combination of bad camera angles and myself not being good with mouse and keyboard make it a interesting chellange

After beating it without much problems(just a stuck moment in a descinding wall hopping in the last plataforming sequence, but i think lots of players had that same problem playing this first time )i went on to Warrior within, knowing that this titlle had the fame of being the hardest in the trilogy.
Well,i felt that the difficulty in this game really ramped up, and again it was evem harder cause my keyboard clumsiness, but i managed to get it going ... till the Cliff section wiht the sandwraith

I managed to pass this section, but i have to say, that was the HARDEST plataforming section in a 3D game i have ever played. It took me some 5 game over screens and lots and lots of rewinds until i finaly made it
Ok,at this point you have regenerative sand tanks, but it take a while to refill, and that section demands you to use it a lot, with all the crumbling plataforms.
The bad camera here played a major role in making it harder than needed ,i had to switch the camera modes constantly so the Prince would not jump in whatever direction but the one i intended
At the very end of it there is the Ninja lady, that runs towards you while you wallrun, and,my god, i had trouble getting the right timing to strike her. In that part i had to use panoramic camera for running in the 2 crumbling plataforms, while having to do a wall jump, slow down time, start the wallrun, change camera again so i could see her runing im my direction and strike her at the right time.So many keys to hit,so much clumsiness in my hands,it felt like trying to drive a car with my feets, hahah
Before that stressing moment i was already tired from the crumbling masts and small fighths in between, tha take me lots of rewinds to figure out the paths to go (bad cameras acting again)

And after the ninja lady, you land in that last crumbling plataform, with a artwork chest. The first time i have not seen the breakble wall behind and my sand tanks where all but gone.Seeing the game over screen again after passing that ninja lady almost made me cry ,hahaha

Well, after passing it I was crazy looking for a water fountaing.Never i was so happy to reach a save point,so relieved in making past a gaming section,so tired from playing video games.Having at least one checkpoint in the middle would have been helpfull

So,thats it,I just went through that part end felt like sharing it here
Does anybody get difficulty in this part, or what was the hardest plataforming you guys had ever played?

I don't know what to say. Just.. get better? It's a difficult game. As a Sandwraith you have infinite sand regeneration, allowing you for multiple mistakes and attempts before you finally die.

Imagine if there was no rewind time (and slow time) then the game would have been just as hard as Dark Souls

To be fair, i`m kinda proud of myself for being able to get trough the game with my current mouse and keyboard skills hahah
As i said, thats the second game i play with mouse´n key, Sands of Time being the first

I tried to configure the keys in a better way for my hands and fingers, but find the default setting the best, even being clumsy as it is

I think with time i will eventualy get used to it,or i can get a gamepad
There were so many moments i thought : "I would have no problems in this section with my controller"

I thought for a long time before buying the trilogy here on steam, cause i knew it would be a challange playing with Mouse'n key, but i wanted so much to play and here was the only place avaliable for me to get those games( i have a xbox 360, it have Sands of time, but its not avaliable in Brazilian Xbox Live)

And i agree with you, without rewind it would be mad hard .In SoT,the final section where you play without the dagger,my god ,that was tense. As i said i got stuck for a time on that part where you do the hopping down on the wall, and without the dagger with no chekpoitns ,i had redone so many times that entire section that i actualy get pretty good and fast at it hahaah

To be fair I never played Prince of Persia with Mouse and Keyboard. Maybe it is harder with that. And Prince of Persia trilogy was build for consoles in 1st place with controller in mind

I did it,just beat the game with water sword.Took me some trys against Dahaka, but i managed to understand the fight and then it was not tht hard.
Overall game is harder than SoT,but not too hard, just that speciffic plataforming sequence i mentioned in my original post was trully stressfull

Hope i get a gamepad,i couldn't use the combat system to full extent with the Mouse'n Key .The combos are great but i had to relly on parry and throws for eficience

Now i will start Two Thrones,i realy hope being able to pull of the stealth with the M'nKey

"At the very end of it there is the Ninja lady, that runs towards you while you wallrun, and,my god, i had trouble getting the right timing to strike her."

Just throw a knife from where you're standing to kill the ninja lady...

A thing that i didnt tried : Can you throw wepons while wallrunning ? It would be helpfull against those explosive dogs in the walls, as you cant hit them throwing your wepon from the ground

While on ground you can throw weapon at enemy. Face to enemy direction and Prince SHOULD autolock on enemy and throw weapon at them. I may question: Does autoaim lock
still works with Keyboard and mouse?

It worked most of the times against grounded enemies, just didn't worked against the throwing knife shadows
But against the dogs in the walls i never managed to hit then with throwing wepons, so i assumed it was not possible
Even now ,after had alread beaten the game, i'm not sure if i had get the timing to do the wallrun slash perfect

I dont't know if there is a rule against double posts, so i'm sorry but i had to post one more thing

I just beat T2T using Mouse and Keyboard . After beating SoT and WW with it, T2T was easier for almost the entire game, i had no major troubles with speedy kills and plataforming ( except for one or other moment where the camera didn't helped .) Chariots sections were challanging but i "fine tuned" after some tries.Bosses weren't much problem too, i heard lots of peaple saying that the double bosses were hard, but it was ok for me, the real problem i had was againt the Vizier, wich i heard wasn't hard

I think using Mouse'n Key in that fight really was a hinder for me. In the second phase where you have to do a vertical wall run to initiate a speedy kill was maddening,
The camera would lock in an isometrical view so doing the vertical run became really hard, as the prince would go horizontal and them i would be hit by the rotating stones .I managed it after lots of retries, holding two directional keys at the same time but it didin't felt reliable at all .
And after that you have to do a lengthy plataforming section to reach the boss in the final phase, while he shots at you ,if you die you have to restart from the very begining.Again i had trouble with the camera, sometimes it would position itself pointing to were i needed to jump, but somitmes it would go crazy ,repositioning it with Mouse fast enough, while avoiding being hit was really hard ( not to mention the fact that you need to find your way trhough the plataforms).

I imagine that those camera issues would be less problematic with an analog stick, both to positioning the camera fast and jumping in odd angles

Now i would like to know if those games are really harder with keyboard or if a experienced key' player would have no trouble with it

this entire section is built to screw with you and its not because it requires skill because when it comes down to it, its not hard, its entirely because they saw how buggy all of it was and decided to keep it like it.
the clearly backwards ways controls work when you're hanging on poles throughout the entire game is number one. it makes no sense and they knew it. thats why they make it a timed event here.
the freaking ground breaks away before you even touch it, the prince will randomly not grab, the camera is nothing but bs especially for the lady section and whenever you dont make it, you have to repeat a needlessly long section all over, which isnt even hard, its just throwing everyone down.

the ninja lady still getting you even when you get her and the ground collapsing at the very end are just the final middle finger to players, its bad design and nothing else.

ps: theres even more. sometimes rewinding time doesnt rewind the platforms, sometimes the prince just gets stuck wallrunning, sometimes you cant grab the last branch before the lady part, you'll hit it like a wall and can only bounce back. same is true for the platform right before the branch.
its just nothing but buggy bs.
