A way back into the garden and waterworks.

Hello all, need a lil help here.

I completed the game and I missed the good ending because I couldn't get the water sword.

So before going to fight kaileena for the second time, I went and tried to get all the life upgrades I missed. One of it is in the Garden and Waterworks in the PAST.

But for the life of me, I can;t find any way back to that area.

Do you guys know how?

Hey! I found a solution! Zipping! I was stuck, same as you. The trick is to jump to the closed gate (there's barely a ledge to stand on). Then press the weapon throw button to unsheathe your weapons and use the counter block - block zipping technique. Once through the gate, I also immediately saved the game just in case some area wasn't loaded and that was it :)

Well no but honestly these trophies set you up for two playthroughs and I don't think it's fair to force playthrough #3 just because you missed one collectible.

This area remains open to you until you put the mask of the wraith on, then time is rewound as it were, because you're now given a second chance to start again. So essentially the past prince hasn't opened that gate in the garden tower yet when you get there as the mask (although stupidly that gate does remain closed for the rest of the game, but that's probably just by design to punish you for missing it earlier).
If you head there as soon as you get the scorpion sword (after leaving the prison & library, but before you head towards the throne room to get the mask) then the gate's still open to you, because as of yet you haven't rewound time by putting on the mask.

Does that make sense?

The only problem with this logic is, there is no way for you to reach that crack wall when you first reach that area for the very first time. and trying to go back there for the second time is well, history.

It's not open to you when you first go there, because you haven't got the scorpion sword when doing the garden tower. It's only open to you to actually break the wall and get it during a very narrow window, after facing the Empress and getting the scorpion sword, but before you go back to the throne room and get the mask. Before then you don't have the sword, and after then the gate is locked.

It's one of the more annoying flaws with the game, but it's not impossible, just a very narrow window of opportunity.

Sorry mate, I haven't found one, I think the space to zip is very limited, since it's on such a weird ledge, and there isn't anything at that height to stand on in the rest of the garden hall, every platform is either higher or much lower.
