2nd. the magic star increases the sphere's multiplier lvls by x amount per sec (have not bothered with the math on that yet), while also fast-forwarding the time by an increased x amount per sec, which is where potions are also a must to increase the damage gains.
3rd. It's more efficient to do ~10 minute runs getting three potions, getting the leaves to upgrade the sphere, and making Tungus's silver while upgrading the 2nd hero's sphere skill as much as possible. One of the rare cases where speed will outweigh a long run, it's just very very taxing to do.
Quick note: you also don't need to move anywhere in the zone since the damage is the same and not calculated by the magic damage actually done to the monster, but rather just the dps of magic itself.
4th. You'll have a better option with the 3rd hero I believe, for doing 1-2 day long runs to increase the mutiplier by around 1000 fold IF the math goes the way I want it to (what get's added on to what first basically is all). However, I have not tested this and will not for several days.
5th. If you care for your mental health, try not to do more than 10 speed runs, it's very taxing on the mind to do something like that repeatedly. IF you don't care and got the time... go for it
6th. For actually using the star... click the spheres to 9, make sure you have the potions (however many you want, the more the better), click each sphere to 10 real fast (not entirely necessary, you lose 18 sec if the spheres is a 30 sec, just something fun to do while doing the mundane... use the potions instead for max output, maybe a 1-2% difference), then the stars (all of them) and all of the potions, then pray for the sphere reset (once got the green one to reset 8 times in a row). Now you may be thinking that it'd be more beneficial to keep an extra star if you have more than one and try again, it is debatable (you could get more resets the next try).
A few notes about that: you'll still have to get a new set of potions, the next increase in gains would only be ~8% (up~20% more if you get successful resets on the spheres) more than your previous try due to already doing close to the cap amount of damage you could do. VS just restarting with your newfound bonus and getting a larger increase in your next run because you're already doing more damage naturally.
Hope this helps, but all in all... you need to brute force it.
