I've just published an update that fixes at least one issue. For everyone experiencing a startup issue, please update and try it out. You can force an immediate update by reinstalling the game, just in case it doesn't auto-update. Let me know if my fix helped you out or if you're still experiencing an issue. Thanks!

Edit: An update has been released that adds Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 support, as well as fixes a bug causing crashes if you have non-ascii characters in your Windows username. Please let me know if this update has addressed any of your issues.

Edit Again: An update has been released that is intended to address the black-screen issue. It is possible there were multiple issues fitting the same description, so please get the latest updates from steam and report back whether your issue has been fixed. Thank you!

Looking into this! I appreciate the post. Is there a log in C:\Users\YOURNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\Thunkspace\5dchesswithmultiversetimetravel?
If there is, please post it here or email it to support@thunkspace.com

Also, please let me know if there is no log, or the directory does not exist, that is useful info! Also (wouldn't be in the log) you have multiple hard drives, was it running from a secondary drive when it crashed?
Shadow Jul 22, 2020 @ 10:12am
I'm encountering this bug too. This is the whole log from the folder (they are all duplicates of each other), not much to see really:
[src/client_main.cpp:245] GL_VERSION 3.3.14736 Core Profile Context 20.7.2 27.20.2001.9003 [src/client_main.cpp:246] GL_VENDOR ATI Technologies Inc. [src/client_main.cpp:247] GL_RENDERER Radeon RX 580 Series
I have 3 hard drives and ran it from a non-primary SSD. I moved it to my primary one (another SSD) to see if it helped but encountered the same issue.

I get the same problem and I found the folder mentioned above however it is empty, there is no log file in the folder.

The folder you mentioned is empty for me aswell
Knose Jul 22, 2020 @ 10:20am
The mentioned folder is empty. I tried moving the game from the E:/-drive to C:/, but that did nothing as well.

I get the same sort of log file:

[src/client_main.cpp:245] GL_VERSION 3.3.0 NVIDIA 432.00 [src/client_main.cpp:246] GL_VENDOR NVIDIA Corporation [src/client_main.cpp:247] GL_RENDERER GeForce GTX 1070/PCIe/SSE2

same problem
Chibi Biscuit Jul 22, 2020 @ 11:15am
There is no folder for the log files when I go to check, but when I go to the application folder and run 5dchesswithmultiversetimetravel.exe directly, I get the following error message:

---------------------------
5dchesswithmultiversetimetravel.exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because api-ms-win-shcore-scaling-l1-1-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

Chibi Biscuit - I believe that issue is because you are on Windows 7, rather than Windows 10. I plan to address this limitation soon, after a few more serious bugs are fixed.

Everyone else - I'm working on this currently, and have identified a few possible causes. I hope to have another update soon, and possibly a fix today.
