You can check it like this:
Start button -> Settings -> System -> Sound -> In the Input section, make sure your microphone is selected -> Check your microphone to see if it responds to sound -> below, go to "Microphone privacy settings" -> Make sure that under "Allow applications to access the microphone" the switch is set to On -> Below, make sure the switch is set to On under "Allow desktop applications to access my microphone". And the list includes the game Sign of Silence.
