I like how creative this game seems to be
My biggest gripe with Wargroove 1 was the very uninspired campaign, it was basically just like multiplayer skirmishes against the AI in most of the missions. However conquest mode so far shows great potential, many of the new ideas like the items, minibosses, free movement (when there are no enemies) show a lot more variety which I hope will be utilized in the main campaign as well to allow for much more mission variety and interesting scenarios.

I mean I could frickin clone my mercia in Conquest mode! Having 2 commanders. How awesome is that!? Go all out, be crazy! I like what I've seen so far.

Wait
You can clone commanders too?

I wish I knew that.
I wonder what happens if the clone fails though. Never had that happen to me yet.

Then the run is immediately over, so it's high risk vs high reward. ^^

The "uninspired campaign" is the legacy of the older games (the Nintendo Wars series, especially the Advance Wars episodes) that War Groove is paying homage to. These missions are made so casual players can progressively learn the ropes of the game, or the more completionist/hardcore players can challenge themselves to beat every missions with the highest rank.

I'm not sure they'll mix this classic campaign and the newer conquest mode with the rogue-ish vibe that is popular nowadays. Both modes seem to be made for different players.

I hope they'll polish this new mode that is fun, but still feels like a side from the main experience in this state.

There's also hope the conquest like systems will be available in the editor, so the community can fine tune custom ways to enjoy the game.

I think advance wars has a lot more interesting campaigns, even the first one, though black hole rising was probably the most creative, almost every mission had some kind of gimmick

Ah, I didn't really understood what you were implying in the OP. Sure there's room for improvement in the mission objectives/settings. Let's see what they come up with!

Glad to hear you liked our slightly different approach to WG. You might like what we have done to the campaigns then. ;)
