Can We Play As The Aliens?
Is that one of the roles available for players to embody?
It would be pretty neat to be unsure if the alien monster hunting the crew down, any given round, is an NPC, or a maliciously calculating human mind.

I don't think this is necessary. Since most of the games died due to poor balance. Since this game is based on a board game, then each has its own goal and most likely, a dangerous player will be the one who will get the goal to destroy the ship or kill the player. And the maximum that he can do if based on a board game is to enable self-destruct or lock you in a room with an alien. And yes, most likely alien is just an NPC

Agree, I don't see that being likely. The only hope I have is that they leave the dumb traitor mechanic as optional.

That is my hope too, that like the board game you can opt in and out of having traitor goals.

In the board game, the first player who died can play the aliens... I don't think that will be the case here though.
The board game is not about having "one traitor", it's about all players having different objectives and knowing who to trust in order to achieve your own (the death of a certain player or all of them being a possible winning condition).

I hope the video game will be the same way along with room randomization.
