False Perma Ban for Macroing
Apparently my account was banned around January 2020 for macroing, yet I haven't played in around 3 or 4 years. Don't know if there's anything I can even do. There's no one I can contact and you can't explain yourself in your appeal. It's really unfair. I've even seen several people have the same issue around the same time as well.

I really don't want to make a new account, but it sounds like that's what I'll get stuck doing. I've had this account since I started back in middle school. Can't remember the year exactly, but that was probably around 2008. Many years I'd of play I'd like to...you know, not lose.

You can always appeal a ban, in any event, Jagex are having some server issues atm, some people are completely locked out of their accounts and have been for over a week, you may just be one of those people. But yeah, you can always contest a ban.

Does anyone else noticed that everyone who haven't played the game in "x1 to x5 years" is suddenly coming back to being banned for macroing? :spycon:

Some accounts are/were being hacked and used for botting.
There has apparently been 1000+ data breaches of various degrees in the USA in 2020 alone, lots of peoples emails and passwords are out there

you can see if any of your email addresses and data have been leaked at:

https://haveibeenpwned.com/

it's scary stuff

Edit: chrome also has some password breach detection functionality too

If you tried to log in after 3 or 4 years of not playing to find your account has a permanent ban, chances are it was hacked and used as a suicide bot. If it says you are permanently banned, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do.

From the RuneScape website:

Every account holder is responsible for the actions of their account. Action may be taken regardless of who was playing at the time. Extenuating individual circumstances will not lead to the removal of a penalty.

Actually if your account was hijacked by a suicide bot its most likely you will actually be able to get it back you just gotta jump through some hoops. Bot owners never appeal bans for botting so therefore jagex usually actually looks at the reports. I would recommend including in the appeal a request to check ip logins to your account and supply your ISP at the time. My friend had this happen and actually got his account unbanned.

nah IP and providers have no bearing on an appeal, you can spoof both your IP and provider relatively easy, your friend would of been able to prove he owned the account by using purchases details or know most of the details for the account and it wouldn't of been a perm ban otherwise he would still be banned, they won't lift a perm ban on an account just because the owner asked, once an account is perm banned, that's it, the end of the account, especially if they have supporting evidence of for the ban

First off, that's a childish reaction, just wanted to throw that out there, if you abandon your account, Jagex have every right to terminate it entirely after a set period, lucky for us they don't, but they COULD if they wanted to, so think yourself lucky it's even still around.

Anyway, you don't need to share your personal info to get hacked, they can find a way, they always do, if you abandoned the account years ago, this was very likely to happen, I mean, look at what happened to A Friend, he came back to RS3 after a few years break and there was over 40 (yes 40) strikes, actions and Bans on his account for botting, rwt, selling gold, macroing, offensive language, advertising inappropriate websites among others, his account was clearly hacked during his time away and he managed to recover it in only a few hours.

I'm sure you'll be fine.

You maybe had your information on a shady runescape help site (something akin to runelite) and they sold your information. My 10+ year old account i came back to recently had 3 mutes for advertising a gold farming website and 2 perm bans for botting. Could be a jagex security breach too I dont know.
Plocana Mar 16, 2021 @ 12:04pm
I've never used any alternate sites for "help" or anything like that.
And unfortunately I can't say anything when I appeal my ban. And once you've made an appeal, they blatantly state that if you make another appeal, it'll pretty much be completely ignored. Which I do understand, but still find extremely stupid.

What really bugs me about this is the only evidence it shows to this macroing I've supposedly done was a "Jagex Moderator Comment"
I don't even know what that means.

It would be childish to spend money for a service if they don't give service. Accept money from costumers & run is common these days. But this is a "what if" scenario. If they try to fix it; i don't have a problem. There's nothing childish about that.

No, i meant boycotting anything is childish, the whole concept is outright idiotic and any attempt at doing so is more often than not asinine.

May be, and maybe it doesn't matter. But i have no respect for ppl or company's if they rip me off.
