You have a very limited map where you are held up everywhere with you need a membership to go here or there and you have a very limited skillset because most of the skills are For members only.
You can test every skill in the tutorial area it is more then enough to decide if you want to drop money on the game or not so first look into f2p a bit then make your choice

Search engines exist for these exact type of queries instead of asking other players to gather the information for you.
love how the game is supposed to be played with other people/communicate and then these types of people tell people to f off and look it up urself
I provided links that the OP could have easily found by typing the title into google, followed by "Runescape 3". I provided, then educated on how to find more information if this wasn't what the OP was looking for.
Meanwhile, all you did was spew vitriol instead of helping the OP as you suggest people should be doing. Grow up.
once you ran out f2p quests and achievements to do, there's only grinding left. there is also far less reoccuring content for f2p. (aka dailies, but some can be weekly or monthly)
As Jimmy put it earlier, there are some articles and links to show exactly what you can do as a Free Player and Member respectively. The short form is you can do about half or less of the skills up to Level 50 content-wise, and only access about 1/3rd of the game's regions.
There's plenty to do as a free-player as it stands, but you'll definitely get more enjoyment as a member.
Why monthly subscription? Subscription is supposed to cover the maintenance costs of the server, as usually is the case with most subscription based MMOs.
If you can't afford the costs or don't want to pay them, you CAN earn your membership in-game. It's time consuming early on, but after you find a good money-making method that works for you, you can just buy Bonds from the Grand Exchange. Each bond individually is 14 days of membership, and you can combine them to buy bigger packages of the RS membership plans.
Most people who play entirely free will work for a while to get 1 bond, then claim it for the 14 days and do member's activities which have higher money-gain potential to get the rest of their membership time and maintain members this way.
IMO I've seen worse membership prices in other games and encourage anyone to buy it if they can, but I also see the appeal in working for your membership over buying it. I encourage you to check out the links Jimmy put to give yourself an idea of things you can do and just get a feel for the game, have fun with it!~ If you like what you're playing consider going members.
