you can watch youtube videos for the first question, as this forum isn't too active.

as for the 2nd question, you could be pure f2p, but idk how long it will hold your interest though. you need membership to access 100% of the game. only members servers gives that freedom.

As a f2p i would stay play osrs but that's my opinion.
F2P on Rs3 good luck affording a bond when its over 135m while in osrs it's more easier to afford it even if it's take a bit

well Rs3's bond is very heavily influenced by the endgame that makes you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of cash pretty steadily if you know what you are doing that why it's so expensive
There's pros and cons between both depending on what you're looking for.
I prefer RS3 because it has a more engaging economy and greater variety of things to do and ways to go about them, while the players who prefer OSRS seem to be in it more for competition and challenges, partly because I don't think OSRS has MTX like RS3 does.

I would say as well the OSRS combat system makes more sense in general but they're both very flawed in their own ways in regards to combat.

The most solid difference is just that RS3 has a casual community while OSRS has a very sweaty community

Play oldschool rs3 is dead af, the only people who play are sweaty no lifes who run 9 differeant accounts and grind bosses all day for that sweet 1/1938125239854 rng drop.

Just play osrs, pretend rs3 never exist and you’ll see how osrs is amazing. From minigame to questing. Of course pvp if you like some which is super popular

Personally; I played osrs to many times. Wanted to try something new, while still playing RS. Started Ironman rs3, and enjoying it a lot!

Ironman does it for me. Busy life, and I dont want to play with someone. Just spare time to focus on my own. rs3 is the way for me.

Both osrs and rs3 give you the rs vibes you want. osrs is playing like oldschool. rs3 is more modern playstyle and easier to play. Depends on what you want;
Prefer the old school vibes, lots of clicking (osrs) etc. or want a new twist (rs3)?

if u prefer modern graphic, fast levelling progression and end game bossing u choose runescape 3
if u want a game have retro graphic that value your effort and achivement when u tried to grind anything u choose old school runescape
i think both game have their pros and cons
about me ,i prefer runescape 3 because of graphic and combat system,im a fan of skill base system (tab target system) and i dont have to spend too much time to grind like osrs
in fact if we only talk about gameplay no game is better than other game ,we only choose kind of game that suits us
Remember all runescape games are not casual mmorpg (even runescape 3) it takes a lot of time, concentration and your ability to do everything, they are not easy mmorpg.

both can be casual, just don't convince yourself you need to rush to anything.
Not that that's a common mindset among the community.

the bulk of new content that gets added to either is for people with thousands of hours in, so you can imagine that's the majority of the community these days unfortunately.

Devil's advocate on the combat is that even though I prefer RS3 as a whole, the combat change turned every fighting style into a grey goo where none of them are special anymore. Still I'm going to laugh as the OSRS PVPers who swear that pure RNG with a glass cannon meta is any better

rs3 if ur not 40 and have nostalgia colored glasses
Im sure you can tell theirs very strong opinions both ways, the dev teams for both games have very different visions which has led the game down different routes. I would say give both a few hours in f2p first to see which plays better to you. if you have any more specific questions about 3 feel free to add me and ask I cant speak for Old school though as I haven't played it.

I don't have a ton of time in old school, but I started playing Runescape at the end of 2008 and OSRS works from an even older base than I remember. I wouldn't mind a 2011scape or something but they definitely went a totally different direction with OSRS
