Banned for Macroing?
Like most people I tried to return to runescape after a long break and come to find I was banned for macroing on old school runescape, I have never even played old school so I sent an appeal but I seen something saying they wont even review them? What does that mean for my account is it gone for good and if I get it back will my stuff still be here?

They don't debate on macro bans outside of very specific situations. Odds are you'll need to start over.

You'll need to provide proof. I assume you got caught cheating. Your story is the same as everyone else that I have seen complain about being banned for macro. "I haven't even.. I just came back.. Blah Blah..." Between all the Facebook groups, Twitter, Discord Server and Steam posts, just stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ botting and play legit. Cheating will never get you anywhere and will always backfire.

git gud? go to the twitter page for Jagex Support and make a claim or file a help ticket. Stop cheating, its always the same excuse :] you think people are really that stupid to believe you? Why would someone randomly choose an inactive account? How would they get your info or login...? You'd have to enter it somewhere for it to be available. There is such thing as IP Logging and Jagex can see what IP you log in with and where it comes from.
Just letting everyone know I got my account back and I had all my stuff intact (They used OSRS I play RS3), my account was hacked as per the email from jagex has told me and I never macro'ed or cheated so don't listen to the rude doofus above me. Plot twist though, they do choose inactive accounts too cause mine was inactive for a few years and was banned in the middle of one of those long breaks everyone takes. Remember to always change your password and take all cautions you can take for your account safety. <3

An inactive account won't have the user suspecting that his account is being used by another party... because well... the user is inactive and obviously won't log in to see what the hell is going on with his account.

Tell me how they get the account information?

Who knows? If the method for stealing info was common knowledge then all forms of hacking would drop to zero since countermeasures would be taken. Even bank/credit info get leaked sometimes in news. I'm not surprised some people are able to take log in info from games.

You can get account information in plenty of ways, not just Phishing. The 'Hacker' may have used Brute Force, using programs to crack passwords. Imagine going to the bank, because when you woke up in the morning, your account told you that someone has spent £5000 pounds, and when you get to the bank, they say "Shouldn't have given your information away". Maybe he was cheating, maybe he wasn't, but there are plenty of ways to get someones login details, don't be a Clown lmao.

Well I'm going to walk away from this conversation now because I can see how clueless you are on hacking and breaching and all that. In order to Brute Force password you need a password pool in a library and it takes a very very long time to brute force a password especially if you don't know anything about the person you're hacking additionally if you have information readily available it takes a lot less to Brute Force someone in order to get that information you're suggesting that jagex is getting hacked on a daily basis which is obviously a lie there's no excuse for account breaches other than the person's own security entering their information where it shouldn't be or passing it around to bot sites I highly doubt that they are getting hacked so much daily that accounts are getting leaked.

The only way to get your account back is to say sorry.
A player i know used a remap to resolve his keyboard dying. Long story short it was a mutual understanding between player and company to give another chance despite macro major. This is rare and unlikely to others granted.
The appeal process does give the old school answers they expect and will straight up ignore - my brother used my account, the cat logged in ect...

Say sorry and it shows maturity. The games rated 12+ so if you can show this maturity, you may have some luck. Mileage will vary.

Or respect the game and the devs and they will look after you.

+1
No genuine person banned would post here anyway, it's merely a steam forum
anybody who was really hacked would use the games forums and support
And OFC it got it's account back, yep really we believe that

I don't think it's too hard to believe that inactive accounts are targeted.

I don't think it's too hard to believe scammers know this and can pretent to have a account like this.

I believe that both cases can happen. You just have to assess what went on. If someone lost their account and got it back. It depends on what happens next on if it's a scam.

Regardless of if they actually lost items or not, if they ask for items, don't give them anything, you can't trust they're telling the truth. A player who lost items but got back the account they had for 10+ years is going to care less about the items as the ones taken are normally able to be replaced with GP and more about having their account.

Overall everyone should make sue to beef up account security. The game does have options to tie the account stronger to you and make it hard for people who are not you to access it.
