I bring your attention to this paragraph in particular:
"Hardcore Ironmen deaths do not affect the Old School RuneScape game in any way."
Please read through this page carefully for all restrictions. Hardcore ironmen have only ONE LIFE. When they die, their account is switched to normal Ironman Mode. Prior to a change on July 13, 2020, Hardcore Ironmen who lost their last life would have their account locked, which is what I believe the OP is referring to. But since this update, their accounts just switch to Normal Ironman mode, regardless of whether they'd d bought a jar of divine light.

So, short answer is NO. You do not lose your membership is you die as Hardcore Ironman in RS3 because your character is then downgraded to normal Ironman. And any way you look at it, none of this affects your OSRS account since it is considered separate from your RS3 account.
You can have a normal character in OSRS while playing as a Hardcore Ironman in RS3. If you die in RS3, then your character becomes a Normal Ironman but your regular character in OSRS remains unaffected by the death in RS3.
Hope that clears it up for you.
I too have never bothered with HCIM because I invest too much of myself and my time to ever want my character to go bye-bye permanently. It's why I dislike games with permadeath. I don't usually need much reason to stop playing a game. If it's buggy and glitchy as hell and tends to crash more often than not, I'm already looking for that uninstall button. But permadeath just seems counterproductive to when trying to sell gameplay and interest in a game.
I mean I do get it that some see the challenge as worth the trouble. I'm not one of them.
PS: I recall not being able to stop laughing when I saw a universal broadcast of some HCIM who had died of thirst in the desert. Yes, well done and thanks so much for the laughter. This was about 3 years ago and I still remember it fondly.
