Linux malloc() crashes

Getting frequent crashes where my game freezes as one of the CPU cores spikes in usage, then the game closes with the error message 'malloc(): unsorted double linked list corrupted'. Testing in Manjaro Linux, this error happens both in the Flatpak launcher and in the Steam version. Known error? Any known fixes?

Yes, I always play on minimum.
In addition to the information in the OP, I can confirm these issues both in experimental and 7.x Proton
