Equally there is no "main" questline -- there are a few major chains, but nothing like Skyrim where you get the main quest right out of the gate.
Once you finish the tutorial what you do is up to you -- pick a skill you like and start training it, start training your combat to fight harder monsters, or just explore!
setting a target of unlocking menaphos is a good start

RuneScape quests are split into Fifth Age and Sixth Age, so if you want to experience them in chronological order, I suggest sorting them by either Ages or Timeline in your quest journal, accessed by clicking on the compass on your ribbon and selecting the quests tab. The important thing is to do the Fifth Age quests first, followed by The World Wakes and then all the Sixth Age quests. For the Sixth Age ones, I would suggest doing them in the order they are listed, since the developers decided to be less strict on quest requirements to make new quests more accessible. For instance, the quest Desperate Times takes place after Sliske's Endgame, but since the latter is a very late-game quest, they made it possible to start Desperate Times without completing it.
Hope this helps! Sorry if I'm a bit rambly, gotta head off to work soon, so I don't have time to formulate it better. :P
