Firewall problem

I played runescape on the normal launcher and now on the steam launcher no problems.
But since today I get the message "There was an error loading the game configuration from the website. If you have a firewall, check that this program is allowed to access the Internet. (6,200)"

This comes on my normal launcher and the steam launcher.

I have tried turning off and on my pc, pulling out the internet, reinstalling runescape via steam and normal launcher, checking my firewall if RS still has access wich it does, updating windows and all this but have no luck.


Any1 else with this problemen or knows how to fix it?

I used to have that problem a lot. Turned out it was due to Avast Free Antivirus or AVG. It created tons of issues for me from slowing down my PC, freezes in various games, stuttering, lag and these very same problems with Runescape.

I uninstalled AVG and installed Kaspersky and haven't had any issues at all since then. Windows runs smoothly, updates are fast, all games runs just fine (depending on the specific issues within certain games but otherwise normal) and I have not had that error message since for Runescape, both with the client itself or running through Steam.

There is a problem with the server's as the web site is also down. All you can do is wait until they fix it.

Also started for me about an hour ago I think
I played earlier today, took a shower, and then now can't load the game.
Mine says specifically

"There was an error loading the game configuration from the website. If you have a firewall, check that this program is allowed to access the internet (7,28)"

If u have Rs on mobile , check it out the game-servers are down ... so wait

The servers are down for scheduled maintenance. They will be down for approximately 3-4 hrs according to this mornings weekly RS news.

Thanks I googled the error and tried everything including verify the integrity of the game and reinstalled the game on steam without progress guess ill have to wait till the servers are up and running again

Had this problem 3 or 4 times and it's always been my router settings, for some reason Runescape can trigger web safe on virgin media
I turn web safe off on the router and all works fine, then you can turn it back on

Well this is a year later and I'm having the same problem. Played fine yesterday. My only firewall is windows and runescape does have access.
