[WARNING: NEW PLAYERS] Ironman/Ironwoman & the Bundles
Directed at new players. I must warn you that purchasing the following DLC for Runescape is presented both in the reviews, and by the information on the main page/dlc pages as predatory for new players.

-- CONTEXT --
A post warning players that the bundle is not ideal for ironman/ironwoman. There are no warnings on the main page / dlc page. The argument that when clicking 'Treasure Hunter' in game is valid. But that should be included in the store/dlc page. It is unreasonable that they clarify on membership intricicies of the bundle, but not the treasure keys. You can't get to the treasure hunter menu until after you create and select your mode. Off-site research shouldn't be required if you assume the steam page to be valid, with note section, info dumps etc. Accompanied by Very Positive reviews and reviews that proclaim the Bundles as cheap membership / valid purchase.

The very good steam runescape creation means most new players from steam will not have to launch the website. I'm staying as ironman, I just intend to war other players. As I have encountered half a dozen thus far who also fell for the same thing.

An alternative to the Treasure Keys, e.g Rune Coins, would be reasonable. As the bundle is misleading.

-- INFO BUNDLES, SCREENSHOTS-
Notes, disclaimers, bundle info. Showing that treasure-keys are not warned on the many prompts / areas until you've locked in your mode and navigate to Treasure Key area.

- Starter Pack
1 month membership,
15 Keys,
Consmetics

-Standard Pack
3 month membership,
50 Keys,
Cosmetics

-Max Pack
12 month membership,
75 Keys,
Cosmetics,
EXTRA Keys Daily

The main page, and the DLC page have a body, and sections such as notes. That provide disclaimers that potential buyers should know, so they do not get blindsided. These note sections lull you into a false sense of understanding.

- The DLC Bundle items are not tradeable or refundable.
Okay, sure. Easy enough.

- The Extra Bank Spaces expire at the end of membership access period.
Okay, sure. After my subscription period those benefits vanish. Gotcha.

- The Membership Access DLC bundle is a one-time purchase and is not recurring. Recurring membership can only be purchased via the in-game interface.
Okay, gotcha. This is a one-off purchase route.

Where is:

- Ironman/Ironwoman characters do not get following parts of these bundles: Keys, and Daily Keys, among other features
. Wow, thank you Jagex! I won't select ironman/ironwoman when I go straight from your store page, to my libary to launch the game, to instantly create an account. To conclude. You go from Store, to Client. Never having to interact with the website or wikipedia as a new player on Steam. All the information that we should know, e.g these items and membership was a paid service / temporary - is included in notes. Lulling newbs into a false sense of 'Okay I gotcha'. Then when the newb launches the game to try it out. They make a steam account and get prompted for Ironman/Ironwoman. The info supplied in that prompt does not say you can't use treasure-keys, etc. Goes into no trading, etc. This is for the new, new players. Not the ones who know of ironman past what the brief and lacklustre prompt at character creation informs you. Support links the ironman/ironwoman wiki, and act like you should've researched past the prompt and notes section disclaiming the inner-workings of the bundles. Not expecting the game to throw a curve ball and say 'Oh, we said no player to player trading... Ironman/Ironwoman are also allergic to key :/'.All in all a noob who thinks this is a cool purchase. Loses out on 15/50/75 keys. Plus the many, many daily keys and even extra dailies. It would be cool if they could offer alternatives, like runecoins, or bonds instead of keys if you selected ironman/ironwoman.References:https://i.imgur.com/3CqWm79.png (Starter)https://i.imgur.com/lYqdf7H.png (Standard)https://i.imgur.com/obMINPK.png (Max)----Ironman/Ironwoman Prompts - Nothing about Keys.https://i.imgur.com/7p4XaXa.png - Ironman Prompthttps://i.imgur.com/cwdZZe1.png - Hardcore Ironman Prompthttps://i.imgur.com/XGyKbb2.png - Hardcore Ironman Prompt 2https://i.imgur.com/P9MdzgJ.png - Hardcore Ironman Prompt 3https://i.imgur.com/EPy0b0N.png - Ironman Succesfully Selected, Agreeing to All The Info Presented from Store Page / Prompts.----No mentions of Ironman/Ironwoman losing keys, etc in notes of DLC pages or main page.Main Page reference to steam rewards:https://i.imgur.com/23qSez5.png

It's not down to you to research it all, should be a simple warning when buying and again at character creation
A little banner saying not suitable for irons on steam page maybe

Exactly. I rated Runescape 3 as a 'recommended'. But I otherwise rated the package I bought as 'not recommended'.

The Australian in me assumes that Jagex didn't intend for this. But the reality of the matter is... Steam Launcher genuinely cuts out a significant amount of interaction between Runescape (Their Website), and Wiki/Forums.

From Download, to Launch. It's as easy as 1...2...3 to create an account. And sadly that means we as new players don't have to be exposed to the various pop-ups and information otherwise available on the websites.

A few things recently, your situation for one and another is that ability bars are free from next week ( maybe later this week) but you need to buy them atm with rl cash
Just a bit strange they keep them on sale for the steam launch then a wk later they intend to make them free to everyone

Yeah. If a JMOD sees this. I genuinely am loving the experience thus far. But it is quite a bummer that the bundles were portrayed like this. And usual replies are being used. Like Steam users genuinely don't have the same start-up, if that makes any sense.

We click the shiny Runescape banner at the top of the store page. Look at the immense amount of positive reviews. And for me, in this case, look at the bundle options and read comments such as - 'Great cheap membership' and decided after reading all the fine-print on the store page, to purchase a great deal.

I just wish, in hindsight that what is locked for Ironman/Ironwoman were translated to alternatives.

Treasure Hunter has never been apart of Ironman. I'm not sure why people would be surprised that if they were to buy a pack containing keys, they wouldn't get said keys.

Before you start questioning my literacy, I'd suggest creating an Ironman, or Hardcore Ironman account.

He's a brand new player who obviously didn't know about irons and keys he just picked iron at character creation

On account creation, Treasure Hunter is on the list of things you cannot use. It's also worth noting that the link I put down is easily found through Runescape.com's main page via the Game Guide tab and going under Wiki.

keys were useless

OP make a dumb mistake and projecting onto Jagex. I'm not a fan of the MXT, but let's place the blame where it belongs. He didn't do his research like a smart consumer does and he got burned.

I dont have a problem with being unable to use keys whilst being HCIM,
I am worried that if i choose to revert to normal that I will never have my keys

You realize what I linked is the official Wiki supported by Jagex, right?

This isn't a new thing. Sorry you got burned and all that jazz, but I heavily suggest doing further research in the future before wasting real world money in a video game.

Just for fun and games, here's the 2014 update that added Iron man: https://runescape.wiki/w/Update:Ironman_%26_Drop_Table_Reworks

Page was last updated in January of 2018, so there's no conspiracy going on.

The purpose of this post is to highlight the ease of access for new steam users. Able to go from Store Page to Account creation within a few clicks, without having to confirm emails etc.

Where Jagex could have disclaimered about Ironman, they did not. It's a noob-trap. It would be a different story if Jagex did not include the Note section, but they did. Clarifying the intricacies of the membership. On the front, and in the DLC page.

But they failed to comment anywhere about Ironman and the Keys. The creation prompts also disclaim the limitations. But nothing about the keys.

If you read disclaimer sections, on the bundle. Which should have included info about the Keys. And then go through 3 prompts saying how you can't trade with others, and use GA. Then find out you miss out on a large portion of what you paid for because you didn't go off-site, and out of your way to make sure the terms were accurate.

That is not being burnt. It is being misled / lulled.
