It's not down to you to research it all, should be a simple warning when buying and again at character creation
A little banner saying not suitable for irons on steam page maybe
Exactly. I rated Runescape 3 as a 'recommended'. But I otherwise rated the package I bought as 'not recommended'.
The Australian in me assumes that Jagex didn't intend for this. But the reality of the matter is... Steam Launcher genuinely cuts out a significant amount of interaction between Runescape (Their Website), and Wiki/Forums.
From Download, to Launch. It's as easy as 1...2...3 to create an account. And sadly that means we as new players don't have to be exposed to the various pop-ups and information otherwise available on the websites.
Just a bit strange they keep them on sale for the steam launch then a wk later they intend to make them free to everyone
Yeah. If a JMOD sees this. I genuinely am loving the experience thus far. But it is quite a bummer that the bundles were portrayed like this. And usual replies are being used. Like Steam users genuinely don't have the same start-up, if that makes any sense.
We click the shiny Runescape banner at the top of the store page. Look at the immense amount of positive reviews. And for me, in this case, look at the bundle options and read comments such as - 'Great cheap membership' and decided after reading all the fine-print on the store page, to purchase a great deal.
I just wish, in hindsight that what is locked for Ironman/Ironwoman were translated to alternatives.
You should def get this sorted even it's a mth free mems to make up for it
Treasure Hunter has never been apart of Ironman. I'm not sure why people would be surprised that if they were to buy a pack containing keys, they wouldn't get said keys.
Before you start questioning my literacy, I'd suggest creating an Ironman, or Hardcore Ironman account.
On account creation, Treasure Hunter is on the list of things you cannot use. It's also worth noting that the link I put down is easily found through Runescape.com's main page via the Game Guide tab and going under Wiki.
OP make a dumb mistake and projecting onto Jagex. I'm not a fan of the MXT, but let's place the blame where it belongs. He didn't do his research like a smart consumer does and he got burned.
Got Starter pack with cosmetic, 3 month member and 50 keys
Made HCIM character, only to find out i essentially will *never* have 50 keys, unless its possible to turn my HCIM into a reuglar character???

- Nothing about the Keys.
I am worried that if i choose to revert to normal that I will never have my keys
You realize what I linked is the official Wiki supported by Jagex, right?
This isn't a new thing. Sorry you got burned and all that jazz, but I heavily suggest doing further research in the future before wasting real world money in a video game.
Just for fun and games, here's the 2014 update that added Iron man: https://runescape.wiki/w/Update:Ironman_%26_Drop_Table_Reworks
Page was last updated in January of 2018, so there's no conspiracy going on.
The purpose of this post is to highlight the ease of access for new steam users. Able to go from Store Page to Account creation within a few clicks, without having to confirm emails etc.
Where Jagex could have disclaimered about Ironman, they did not. It's a noob-trap. It would be a different story if Jagex did not include the Note section, but they did. Clarifying the intricacies of the membership. On the front, and in the DLC page.
But they failed to comment anywhere about Ironman and the Keys. The creation prompts also disclaim the limitations. But nothing about the keys.
If you read disclaimer sections, on the bundle. Which should have included info about the Keys. And then go through 3 prompts saying how you can't trade with others, and use GA. Then find out you miss out on a large portion of what you paid for because you didn't go off-site, and out of your way to make sure the terms were accurate.
That is not being burnt. It is being misled / lulled.
