i have seen a thread recepie at spinning wheels in Burthorpe. you probably need to shear sheeps for some wool first.

You can only buy it from shops or from the Grand Exchange. You can see the wiki for all the shop merchants and locations.

you're thinking of bowstring probably. the thread that's used to make hides or any leather armor cannot be made only purchased.

Bowstring is made by spinning flax, not wool.

but he's talking about a "thread" wool doesn't make this. unless he got confused over sinew (though this is unlikely).

I didn't pay much attention when i clicked on the spinning wheels because i use melee armour. I just saw a bunch of cloth related crafting options there and thats it.

I joined the game with the steam launch, so it was really only an assuption. ^^

When i wrote my comment OPs question was unanswered, but that has cleared up since then.

runescape.wiki has some good skill leveling guides that I've been using.

combat for now, high alchemy is another way once you hit the right level but it's a bit expensive to get all the stuff you'll need, though if you alch the right stuff you'll turn a decent profit
