fix: Stuck on 'loading application resources'
You might encounter this issue if you have a second screen connected via a HDMI cable.

To resolve this issue:

Close the client
Unplug the HDMI cable
Open the client
Plug the HDMI cable back in

Alternatively you could just delete the registry key manually, without creating a script:

Make sure game is not running.

1. Windows Key + R
2. Type regedit & press Enter
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Jagex > RuneScape
4. Right click the client_position key & click Delete

Launch the game.

Did not fix.

this doesn't fix anything, a simple fix is to keep closing and reloading the client.

this bug has been a thing for years now it happened long before steam, i got it the other day, it happens mostly after an update

I had this same problem. For me, it always happened when I was playing on my second monitor. If I close the game while its not on my primary monitor I will almost always get this issue. The fix I have found is to create a new notepad file and type the command exactly like this.

@ECHO OFF
reg delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Jagex\RuneScape /v client_position /f
PAUSE

It has to be exactly like that. On 3 separate lines. It has to be save as a .bat file to work. I named mine RSfix.bat I saved this notepad document to my desktop. If I ever have the issue, I just open the notepad file and it runs the command and fixes the issue.

Furthermore, now most of the time if I'm doing multiple things like playing RuneScape and watching YouTube or Netflix at the same time, I just make sure RuneScape is running on my Primary monitor and whatever else is on the secondary and I don't have the issue anymore.

Hope this helps.

Yes that would work too lol. I was just having the problem a lot so I made a quick fix for myself. On the plus side, I haven't been having the issue lately so I haven't needed to use it but I still wanted to have the information available to help others if needed.

Had the same issue, turned out my cache got corrupted - happens a lot after updating windows. Quick chkdsk did the trick.

Why would you turn echo off? you have no way of knowing the script is working with that option enabled..

Your cache is corrupt. Delete game, restart computer and reinstall. This fixes that issue 100% of the time since this game is primarily cache based. It will need to redownload all the cached items from the cloud in order to play.

I was having a heck of a time with this too until I disabled the VPN. After that, no problem. Also, it looks like you need to keep the VPN off during play.
