How to get into minigames / bossing?
Ive played Runescape since atleast 2005 and to be honest ive never actually done bossing or mini games or anything like that. I have always been the life skill kind of player and turning a profit and just hanging around the GE chatting.

I am at a point where I actually wanna do stuff other than just work on life skills. So how do I go about starting this, what are some good mini games to start off to get a feel for things? Should I join a clan? what are good starting bosses and how do I go about doing them?

First yes join a good clan, honestly you should have done that ages ago a clan is just a really nice thing to have. Second with mini-games it really depends, most of them are viewed a inefficient and are only played on spotlight and even then some are just not played at all. Though there are plenty of solo mini-games you can play they just aren't classified the same way like Temple Trekking, Fight Cave, Dominion Tower, etc... Not sure how you would really "get into" them though. You kinda just find one you want to play that is alive/solo and play it.

For bossing first make sure you've got good gear for your level and style then start small and work you way up. Begin with easy bosses like Barrows, KBD, GWD1 bosses, etc... then move up into more medium tier bosses like GWD2, QBD, Elite Dungeon Bosses, etc... and once you feel comfortable enough go for the hard things like Arraxi, Telos, Nex: Angel of Death, etc...

My suggested order to get the greatest feel be GWD1 bosses as they don't really many mechanics but do hit hard so they teach resource management and multiway bossing combat. Then Queen Black Dragon because she is on the easier side of things but has a lot of mechanics and thus is good for learning to manage mechanics and manually avoid attacks. After that you can move onto something a little less mechanically heavy but harder like Vindicta in GWD2. Once you really feel comfortable I suggest focusing and learning Nex: Angel of Death because she is pretty involved but a fantastic profit maker. Finally you do Telos or Arraxi to get use to enrage mechanics and longer boss trips.

Honestly you know a really good way to get a feel for bossing before diving into true bossing? Fighting Nomad through different quests/content in ascending difficulty. First his easy fight in Nomad's Requiem then his double Nomad fight in the Dominion Tower's special mode. After that the Nomad battle in Nomad's Elegy and your reward for beating that is unlocking the hard mode of elegy fight called Memory of Nomad. Finally being able to win in the triad fight of Sliske's Endgame that had Nomad in it. Quests in a lot of ways bridge the gap between real bossing and mooks, with Nomad hitting that right level of difficult but not overwhelming and still being mechanically very complex.

to be honest I have just gotten back into this game after taking a decent length of time off (about 3 years) so I came back and I realized I only had about 5 or 6 friends added and idk, honestly a chance to join a clan never really came up, and I am more reserved and dont really talk a whole lot so I never went out of my way to join one.

Are there pre reqs I need to have to be able to start doing GWD1? Are these bosses you listed do able solo? I do not have a problem grouping with others, I just do not know how to go about finding people and I also fear being annoying and being "new" to the bossing stuff. I will def look around online and see what I can learn about everything you mentioned, like how to go about actually starting them and where to go etc. I appreciate the lengthy reply, it was a good read.

also to add I prefer melee combat, my strength, attack and def are all 80, ranged is 71, magic is 60, constitution is 81. Im combat level 103 and right now im using full bane +4, bane longsword with a dragon defender and I swap to the bane shield. I pretty much always run berserker ring and amulet of fury, I have a decent chunk of change so buying new items isnt a big issue.

Sounds like you need a more chill clan where you're not expected to really do much but enjoy company if you want to, participate in events if you want to, and only really talk if you feel like it or need some help. I can suggest a good one for that, Northern Chill, they are always open to people. All they ever ask is you do a little skilling at the clan citadel (they can/will explaining how capping at the citadel works if you don't know how) at least once every two weeks (preferably once a week) just so they know you're actively playing the game. They have a pretty nice Discord to where you can let them know if you're taking a break from the game for reasons.

If you don't mind waiting I could invite you into it tomorrow myself, I've unfortunately got to bed now and here are the clan stats if you're curious. No Pressure of course figured it might just be easier this way for you. I'll send you a friend request now so we can chat again easier, if you're not interested you don't have to accept of course.

So there are lots of ways to get the GWD1 that really the best way to get those answers is just check out the wiki, it will tell you a lot more than I ever could. But general gist is you need to be at least 70 in various stats depending on which GWD1 boss you want to challenge. I'll post the wiki link for you here.

https://runescape.wiki/w/God_Wars_Dungeon

Most of the bosses I listed are either Solo or Group, in fact most bosses in general are Solo or Group. You can pretty much run just about every boss in the game solo though how effective you will be able to run them is going to vary. Like starting with the lower end bosses such as GWD1 all of those bosses you can solo but a lot of people enjoy duo-ing them just to make it a bit easier. The Queen Black Dragon on the other hand is a pure solo boss, no one can help you to do it.

Let me tell you something about your gear before I head off for the night. You are using tank armor and camping a shield and these are both very bad things to do for real bossing. Tank armor may let you live longer in the short term but in RS a good offense is the best defense and killing a boss faster means you will take less damage overall and be able to have longer trips.

So if you're ready for bossing you need to Invest in power armors which the wiki can give you a list off. The starter standard power for players are the GWD1 armors like Bandos/Armadyl/Subjugation/etc...as T70 power armor. As for using a shield/defender you don't want to do that as that's called shield camping and you are killing your DPS doing it. Either dual wield or use two handed weaponry for combat. You can keep a shield/defender in your inventory to swap on quickly so you can use a defensive ability but then you swap back to your weapons afterwards, that's what is referred to as a defensive switch.
