Tip: Linking Steam to Runescape Mobile

Here's how you link a steam-created account to Runescape Mobile, since it currently does not support direct Steam logins

1. Create an account through Steam
2. Go to the Runescape website, https://www.runescape.com/community
3. Log into your account on the website through steam
4. Go to account settings
5. Go to email/password settings
6. Website will prompt you to fill in email and password instructions via blank boxes
7. This creates a Jagex account with an email/PW
8. Use this info to log into Runescape Mobile

im so confused it says my associated email which is the right one but when i login on mobile its a whole new character if i get this on my phone i seriously will cash app whoever 20 i just want to grind away from my pc i cant take it everywhere in the house

Except this ♥♥♥♥ doesn't work. Everytime I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ do it, it says "Please enter a valid password". What the ♥♥♥♥ do you mean enter a valid password? IM CREATING ONE. And yes, it meets the requirements. I've tried 20 diff things. Is this always this much of a piece of ♥♥♥♥?

The whole point I made an steam account to play osrs was because my Jagex accounts get hacked every Tuesday and then pema ban because Jagex doesn't cure. Why would I link a account with another account that makes no sense. You can't win with this company.

This doesn't work I've tried this multiple times. It makes a new account for me but some people says it works. I just wanna be able to bust out my phone when I'm waiting for clients and smith

this method does NOT allow you to log in on mobile using your steam account. the only way I have found, is to link either your apple, google, or amazon account to your jagex account, then on mobile it allows you click "login using ----" account... SO STUPID. hopefully they can figure out how to, oh idk, use your actual steam account. LMAO

Necromancing this to much later 2023 to let everyone know it still thinks you're hacking yourself if you do this. No matter how many times you try to "change your password" on your Steam linked account, the changes will NOT go through and mobile will still complain asking you for a valid password. Then after about three or four resets, it will refuse to let you try again because it thinks you're a bot and tells you to leave for a few hours before trying again. c:
This SEEMS helpful but unless they change this in the future (Which it looks like they won't, if I'm running into the same problem almost a year later from these previous complaints.) it won't actually help you log in on a different device at all. If you have a Steam account, it looks like you're SOL if you want to play on mobile as well. So much for dreaming of material farming on my lap as I watch a movie in a different room. 10/10 gameplay denied.

Fear not! I got it to work! Took all day so I got it.

IMPORTANT: WHEN GOING THROUGH THESE STEPS. IF YOU HIT A ROADBLOCK WHERE IT SEEMS LIKE IT DOESNT WORK, TRY USING A DIFFERENT DEVICE OR BROWSER TO CONNECT TO YOUR ACCOUNTS. I HAD TO USE THREE COMPUTERS TO GET THIS WORKING.

Step 1. Obviously have your character made through steam.

Step 2. Download Steam onto your phone and set up 2 factor authentication, you will need it as a fail safe incase it locks you out.

Step 3. Go the the runescape website to login, preferably the OSRS one, but I don't think it matters

Step 4. When at the login. Look below and locate the steam icon. This will have you use the steam app to authenticate your account and allow you to use your steam credentials to login.

Step 5. Go to account settings and click "linked accounts" this will prompt you to "upgrade" your account. Which basically has you link your character through steam to and email and password.

Step 6. Now here is the tricky part most likely. It will probably not accept your email and password outright. I didn't for me. But do try to see if it works. If it does cool your in and enjoy. If it DOESNT...

Step 7. Go back to the linked accounts on your profile and attempt to link your Gmail. When it has successfully linked it. On where you pressed to link it before it will say "unlink Gmail". If it doesn't make another Gmail and try that one. It should work.

Step 8. Login to the mobile using Google. And it should get you in. ENJOY!

If this process didn't work and you have been running in between computers and phones like I said in the beginning. All I can say is to keep trying. If not, your SOL to the deepest extent. Good luck.

Pardon my language and the necro, but jagex has completely futt bucked this entire account system.

My OSRS character started out as a normal, then I linked it with steam when the option became available.. because OSRS on steam, cool.

But now it seems like my OSRS character is screwed and no longer a part of their account system.

I have my OSRS character linked to google, steam, amazon and facebook.. but for some reason, I can't seem to link it to my jagex account because.... screw steam and the people that use it I guess? lmaoo

I'd be lying if i said what they're doing isn't shady as hell, and honestly, stuff like this makes me not even want to play their game again.

I'm not trying to put a bunch of hours and money into this game just for jagex to restrict my account or possibly DELETE it because i wanted to play on steam.

You would think after 20 something years, they could get a decent account system in place. But I guess having everything linked to one account and playing from anywhere is too much for them in 2024.

I have no idea how I did it, but I did it so many times I logged through the website on a browser outside of the app first then tried logging in through the app afterwards I think maybe that's how it finally linked?

Just keep trying it actually does work just super buggy to login I got in on my mobile through my steam account! You got this gamers!
